I was here a week ago with my family. We were visiting the Talkeetna Air taxi to do the Grand Denali Tour with glacier landing but due to bad weather had to cancel the flight. We were then told about this NPS place where we could see a small movie on climbing denali. As it was our last day in alaska we were dissapointed we could not visit denali national park by drive or by air but we had already paid $10/person in advance for our visit to denali, the folks at this NPS location were so courteous, they helped us with watching the movie, heard about our cancelled air taxi reservation and also took it upon themselves to find a way to refund our advance of $50 for the denali park visit, really happy with all their service on July...
Read moreYears ago I contemplated climbing Mt Denali, and visiting this Park Service Center in Talkeetna gave me an in-depth appreciation for the challenges of such an adventure. Climbers check in here prior to their climb and again upon their return. Many of them apparently leave their summit flags at the center for display, and it's amazing to see all of the nationalities and imagine all of the stories. I loved looking at the records of the summit attempts over the past many years. And the movie they screen for visitors was outstanding and really added to my appreciation of the challenge...
Read moreHad I not gone on a walk on Belle's Interpretive Trail, I would have missed the Ranger Station. The Ranger is located behind the main road into Talkeetna. And, as always this ranger station, like all other ranger stations is staffed by friendly and happy to see you rangers.
