This was the best fishing trip my Dad and I have ever been on. Booking was super easy online, and Aaron was quick to answer any questions we had in advance of our charter. Day before the charter office folks helped us with our fishing licenses and filling out release waivers. Day of charter, Cole came and picked us up at our cabin and drove us out to the boat dock. From there we were in the very capable hands of Rhett and Hayden along with two other folks fishing on the charter. Hayden and Rhett were fantastic. Both guides made sure everyone had hip waiters, caught at least one fish, took pics of our catches, helped untangle fishing lines, brought over our snack bags, rescued lures off the bottom of the bank, and boated us around several different spots on the Talkeetna river to catch the most fish. We got to cast off the river bank and plug fish off the back of the boat. I caught a rainbow trout and a dolly varden, and Dad caught 2 rainbow trout and 2 dolly varden. Rhett the guide and captain of the boat for the day even rode us over to the end of the Talkeetna River to get some pics of the Denali range before heading to shore. Hayden then filleted and bagged our dolly varden for us to cook for dinner. Cole picked us up from the boat dock at the end of the trip, and drove us back to our cabin. Highly recommend Phantom...
Read moreIf I could, I would give them 10 stars! We spent 16 days on our tour of Alaska, and our fishing trip with guide Anthony was the best part. Out of the four of us, only one had fished for anything in the past 15 years. Needless to say, we were worse than rookie fishermen. We were part of a larger tour group but made arraignments for our guided trip with Phantom separately. The larger group tour changed their itinerary on us which forced us to contact Phantom at the last minute to make a change. Danielle took my request and made it work for us. Then she picked us up at our hotel and brought us to the dock. That's where Anthony took over. He fitted us with the gear we needed and drove us up river in his jet boat. He found a secluded spot full of Sockeye Salmon. We all caught our limit, thanks to Anthony's guidance. Upon returning to the dock, Danille completed all the necessary paperwork for the Alaska Fish and Game Dept, as well as the shipping info to send our fish. While she was doing that the guys at Phantom fileted the fish. Then Danielle returned us to our hotel. This was a bucket list item for me and I'm so glad we did this through Phantom Tri-River. It was an amazing experience I will never forget! Thanks to all at Phantom especially Anthony...
Read moreWe had a bad experience with Phantom Tri River Charters.
My wife had a leak in her wader boot resulting in a very cold and wet foot. We were fishing only 15 minutes from the dock so there were several options to remedy the problem - and there was only one other fisherman on the boat.
Why not just radio someone to bring a new boot and dry socks? Or make a quick trip back to the dock? There was another guide there who could cover for him. Our captain's solution, however, was to wrap her foot in a plastic bag and tough it out for the next 3 hours in 40-degree water.
After a few minutes her toes were frozen and started turning red. She spent most of the time on the boat being uncomfortable essentially ruining the experience for her.
Everyone understands things can go wrong on a trip. How a company responds to issues for their customers is an opportunity to earn their ratings. I messaged the company regarding our incident and got a dismissive response that equipment failures happen. I guess just bad luck on our part.
There are many fishing charters in Alaska so shop around and buyers beware with...
