West Rib Pub & Grill — Restaurant in Alaska

We came on Sunday 8/22 on our way back to Anchorage from Denali and stopped here because my wife was craving ‘Alaskan King Crab’. Here are our feedback:

🦀Very country, laid back, bar and pub atmosphere. You can sit at the bar area inside or outdoor. There is no dining indoor sitting other than a few tables in the bar areas.

🦀 we ordered the Caribou ‘Northern Lights’ Burger and the 1 lb Alaskan King Crab leg.

🦀 My wife really enjoyed her King Crab. ‘It really hit the spot’ she said. When you have a pregnant🤰🏻wife, that’s when you know you’re in a happy place.

🦀It was my first time trying the Caribou burger and it was better than I expected. Not the best burger I’ve ever had because I just love 💕 my BEEF burger. Nevertheless it was a delicious burger that I would definitely get again.

🦀 Tip: the bathroom is at the entrance before you enter the restaurant. And it was only the host and a teenage boy working because they’re short staffed so expect a wait to be seated and get to be waited on.

🦀Overall, we highly recommend ‘West Rib Pub & Grill’. Big city taste 😋 in a small town in the middle of nowhere. Would definitely return if we ever get a chance to be back...

We came into the West Rib Pub & Grill, NINE OF US - for dinner. We all ordered our drinks, and two of the beers that were ordered did not taste good. One was flat, and the raspberry flavored one was over-poweringly raspberry. No big deal...we said we didn't like it and would like to send it back for two different drinks. The owner refused to take it back, refused to refund the two drinks, and asked us to leave because we were "arguing". He also threatened to call the police. We weren't raising our voices, just stating what a restaurant would typically do - replace the drinks with something else.

Our bill would have been well over $200, but this owner instead kicked us out. Many people come to Talkeetna, Alaska for vacation. There are plenty of independent restaurants to choose from when visiting. THIS SHOULD NOT BE ONE OF THEM! I have never experienced bad customer service like this in my life....

This place is ok. It’s definitely a tourist trap. When we were there (as a final stop for the road trip), there was a cruise ship just docked so the entire town is packed with people from the ship (the entire town is a tourist trap for sure). The wait is insanely long at every shop, we got sat fairly quickly because I don’t need a table, so we sat at the bar. However, we waited a long long time to get our food, about an hour, which is annoying because the waiter should’ve told us the wait. We ordered a Caribou burger and some fish taco. The burger was ok but the taco was awful. The chef rushed through the order so the fish was burned on both sides and it was tasteless and dry. It’s probably one of the worst taco I have ever had in my life. I do not recommend going to any of the shops in this town and/or choosing any cruise that only put people in tourist traps.
