I guess its closed for the winter ah well. But its open around 4pm for the bar. 7 pm is when they start checking people in. the beds are clean and comfortable. Im not sure if its the best deal in town. They have wifi and a plug in. The staff are nice until its game over so ive heard. The bathroom shower needs to be fixed so that the water doesnt go all over the place. they have have towels and hand towels. it has an old school saloon feel i wish they had swinging doors but ive seen pictures where i guess there was like a speak easy feel. They do listen to music until about 3am. and then some ladies and guys want to talk right outside my window they. need a bull and country dancing classes and new mattresses. the djing sucks its just one song after another and it doesnt make you want to get up and dance i like the mash ups. Then the house keeper said at 10:50 check out and u had to remind her i had 10 minutes left and tgen they need a housekeeper but they cant keep up with one bed of laundry.this guy owns the dr.suess house hope to see him...
Read moreI was excited to take my new wife to this historic bar and wanted to have the selection of a full bar. The town was busy including the place next door, but it seemed corporate owned and we like to support local places. We walked in, got a sour look from the wavy blond haired bar tender without a hello. We chose a seat without being told to do so. We heard how she was having a bad day while she had a drink with a local. We tried to be patient and understanding. Five minutes passed without a hello, waters or asking for an order. We learned later at another venue that it was our job to go up to the bar to order anything and without being told to do so. We went back to try again an hour or so later and had a much better experience with a more rested bar tender and a whole different scene with very few seats available…and had a great time. Take...
Read moreWe heard that @CousinCurtiss was playing here last Thursday, so we re-routed our trip and booked a room. There are 2 shared bathrooms upstairs, which we were originally concerned about (particularly around checkout time), but we ended up not having any issues, and one was always open whenever we needed it or wanted to shower. The room was small but functional, and the queen-sized bed was very comfortable. Online booking and self-check-in was easy and efficient. Great price-point for a last-minute accommodation this time of year.
As for the music, we knew @CousinCurtiss and his friends would be on fire, but we had no idea how engaged the crowd would be. Everyone was dancing and having a great time, making this one of the best shows we've been at recently.
The bar tenders were efficient, despite the crowd, and drinks were reasonably priced. The locals were friendly and fun.
Definitely one of several highlights from our trip. We'll be back next time we are...
