Our furnace has been out since Thursday 1/24/19. We had a flooded crawlspace and the furnace was under at least 3-4 feet of standing water. We have only been sent a water damage person to drain it but there is still water under the house and no one to repair the pump or the furnace yet. Our understanding per Georgia law is that a rental home is uninhabitable when there is no functioning furnace and temps are below freezing, which they have been every night. RW Employee even acknowledged that she advised the homeowner that we could not stay here like this. Yet, here we are. We were told by Renters Warehouse that they have two business days to complete the repairs. The water damage person did not return today, he came out an entire day late to begin with. We have more rain moving in and extremely low temps next week on Tuesday 1/29/19. If they do not fix the pump before more rain comes in, our crawlspace will flood again and will have to be drained again before the pump can be repaired or the furnace. If temps get that cold, we could have bursting pipes as well. This is getting ridiculous. We have children and pets and should not be left like this. We were offered to be reimbursed for 2 hotel nights at $85/night which is also ridiculous. a) With the Super Bowl coming this weekend, the rates of all the hotels have been increased substantially; b) We have pets which costs $50 more pet at least to stay; c) We should not be expected to cough up money for something that is their responsibility to fix promptly. We refuse to leave our pets alone in the cold and one of them is over the standard weight limit so we cannot take her along, even if we wanted to. We are between paychecks. We just lost my children's father on 12/12/19 and have no child support coming in. We really are limited in our options. We are excellent tenants, have lived here nearly 5-years and have never been late once with a payment. Renters Warehouse took our lease over, as property management team, once our old manager left about a year ago and moved to Spain. They have been horrible ever since. They tried to jerk us around with our lease and I had to consult an attorney as the terms of the lease were binding and they had to renew to us under the extended terms of that lease, not their own. They took 14-days to repair our dishwasher when it broke last year. That obviously was not an emergency. However, we have no one assisting us at all at this point and they are not returning our calls, nor do they seem concerned at all that we are freezing here. Jessica had to put the work order in on Thursday and only put it in for our heater, although I explained repeatedly that the crawlspace was completely flooded and that our sump-pump under the house was not working at all. They should have sent a plumber. Even the water damage tech was confused why he was sent in place of an actual plumber. My mother-in-law ordered infrared space heaters for us that should hopefully be here by Monday, before the cold temperatures hit. Again, this should have been resolved already and repairs made. We feel this has been grossly mishandled by the management team. I have left a negative BBB review for them tonight. My husband and I are very displeased and disappointed. Renters Warehouse should have had people out assisting us all weekend to do these repairs. They abuse their position to take advantage of tenants and to do as little as possible to assist. They first tried to tell me this did not constitute an emergency, although their email to me stated it does. I was also informed that if I contact their emergency line again that I will be charged $75 fine each time I contact them. We will not rent from them again if we...
Read more[EDIT, PLEASE READ] Originally, I gave this company five stars, due to the wonderful agent, Arvis. You can read below how great she is. I later learned that she isn’t really part of RW, and I now totally understand why. They are a hoax of a company, and their clients are a reflection of them. I decided to come back to the states after searching here for a place to live for some time, with not much success. When we found the home through RW, I thought it was a miracle but it turned out to be a nightmare. To make this long story very short, we dealt with very condescending, nasty people, and the icing, they served us a 90-day, vacate letter eight months into our stay. We paid $2,200 dollars/month for that house, only to have to start the search again. Keep in mind, it took months, almost a year to find that house. When we balked, RW acted like the homeowner’s did us such a favor, as they offered a few dollars to “help” with the moved. The point is, don’t trust this company or the homeowners they rep.
I’ll be back to finish this story. ORIGINAL POST:
The first piece that I wrote about our time working with Arvis captured perfectly how positive an experience we had with her, but it got deleted, so I will try and recall the sentiment.
We met Arvis while viewing a home that ultimately did not work for our needs. It was a bit disappointing because we looked at several properties over the months before that day, and “home-finding” fatigue had long set in.
I participated via video call while out of the country, and my friend was there in person. When the tour was over, Arvis suggested a home that put an end to our search. Not only that, she walked us through the entire process, communicated with us whenever the moment called for it, went above and beyond, as we were so exhausted from searching and just wanted to find a place to call home. We both agree that had it not been for Arvis, we might very well still be on the search for a home.
As a sales professional, I appreciate her professionalism and strive to maintain a similar approach. I hope that both homeowners and Renter's Warehouse understand the kind of asset had in Arvis.
If you ever happen to read this, Arvis, please accept our sincerest gratitude for making the process so much easier! We appreciate...
Read moreDo not deal with Renters Warehouse. It's almost impossible to get in touch with a real person. We applied for a house after it was apparently taken off market. Their website allowed us to pay to apply for a house that was already off-market. When we inquired about getting a refund on our application (for a house that was off-market), we were met with crickets. Several times. We filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and even they have not heard back from the company. Theresa Sands is impossible to get ahold of. She does not return emails. She does not return phone calls. She does not return texts. I called several numbers for her (and the company in general) over the course of weeks and was only able to reach her by accidentally finding her cell phone number on a website after extensive Googling. I didn't even know it was her cell number until she made a point to tell me. One time I was able to get ahold of her at the number on the listing, and felt somewhat hopeful. I brought my concerns to her and she explained that she now had a team working under her. She promised to call the next day regarding an application (on a tight deadline). However the following day, she did not contact me. I tried to contact her several times and she did not answer any of my calls or return them after leaving several voicemails. She still hasn't. We even tried to apply to a house (a different one) that we liked, but it was not even listed on their website, thus making it impossible to apply for. We also drove an hour to look at a different house, but when we got there, the lockbox for the key (self tour) was not the right type of lockbox, so we could not get in. Rently said it was something to contact the property manager about. I called her cell phone number and she said she would get the correct lockbox would be put on the next day. "Come back after noon," she said. We showed up at 2 or 3 pm and she had still not affixed the correct lock. We tried to call her. She did not answer. We drove a total of four hours for to try to see ONE house for NO REASON. This whole company is the epitome of incompetence. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. Then again, it's not like you could get ahold of anyone to rent...
