Disappointing Experience
I recently had a very disappointing experience at Melrose salon-Inman Park location- that I feel compelled to share. After over a month of debating whether to post this, I finally decided my experience may help others when choosing a salon.
I went in for a mid-length haircut with layers, expecting a transformation as the stylist promised. I paid $120, plus a tip that brought the total to $150. My hair was long, reaching past my bra strap, and I was looking forward to a fresh new look. However, what occurred was nothing short of shocking.
After washing my hair, the stylist began cutting without clearly communicating the process. When I looked up, I was horrified to see that my hair was cut to a length that didn’t even touch my shoulders! The drastic change was far beyond what I had requested, leaving me extremely upset.
To make matters worse, the layers she added were uneven and poorly done. It literally looked as if a five-year-old had taken scissors to my hair. Now, a month later, I'm still struggling with the way my hair looks after every wash, and I feel embarrassed about it.
Though I'm not seeking a refund, I certainly won’t be returning for future services. Additionally, I found the checkout experience quite off-putting; after declining to purchase a $70 heat protectant spray, the cashier appeared visibly irritated.
Despite the numerous five-star reviews this salon has received, my experience leads me to question their authenticity. For $150, I expect professionalism and results that reflect what I asked for, not a hair disaster.
I urge potential customers to proceed with caution if considering. It’s critical to have clear communication and skilled stylists, and I did not...
Read moreAugust 2023: I took my daughter to Melrose and Mcqueen for the first time to get a haircut prior to her starting high school. She was always hesitant and nervous to go to get her haircut at our local salons (which is an hour away from Melrose and Mcqueen). After some research, I saw that Melrose and Mcqueen had great reviews. My daughters hair stylist was Kiana:
Kiana: She was AMAZING!! When we arrived she greeted us and was very nice and professional. She listened to what my daughter wanted, gave advice and recommendations, and made her feel comfortable. From the moment I saw Kiana start cutting my daughters hair, I could see how amazing her hair was going to look and I could see how relaxed my daughter was. Kiana took her time and showed that she truly cared. By the time Kiana was done, I could see the big smile on my daughter's face, and it made me happy to see her so happy with her cut. I definitely recommend Kiana, and will be back! Thank you Kiana!
Front Desk: She was was so nice, professional, and answered all of my questions. Great customer service from start to end! Thank you!
UPDATE:
March 2024-Thank you Kiana! I brought my nephew to get a haircut with Kiana. He always struggled with finding a barber or someone he could trust when doing his hair. After Kiana did an amazing job with my daughter's hair, I brought him to her. He loved his new hair cut very much! She took the time to explain and write down how he could continue styling his hair and what products to use. He said he looks forward to getting his future haircuts with Kiana. It brought me great joy to see him happy with his new cut/style!...
Read moreVery disappointed in this salon and the manager response I received. I recently booked online and was expecting to pay ~$162 for a cut and color according to their pricing when booking (which is pretty good). I understand that prices can vary, but the stylist doing my color did not tell me that there would be TWO upcharges for what she did, brinigng my total to $239. I spent 4.5 hours there for the services, because the stylist had to redo the bottom half of my hair when the color turned out not as expected.
This was my second time at this salon and the first time I was charged only $176 for the same requested services (although they also added a toner charge I wasn't made aware of then). My disappointment comes solely from the fact that when I brought these extra charges that I did not agree to up to the salon, the manager, Katie, called me personally to work things out only to come to two conclusions:
"Maybe it's just too expensive" "I don't know where to go from here"
From a customer service POV this is freaking terrible. How DARE you tell me I'm too poor for your salon when you tack hidden charges on?! She said that the stylist requires training on this for the future...fine, but not an excuse to not try to maintain customer relationships in the present and put all the blame on your employee. That's awful. Honestly shocked they didn't offer to credit just ONE of the extra charges this time as a make good.
As for the cut, Ruby is fab and I'm sad she won't be cutting my...
