Some of the best pizza in Atlanta! I have a hard time giving them 4 stars, because I really love the pizza here. It's super thin, and absolutely delicious. They have some really great meat choices as far as toppings are concerned.
The only reason I didn't give Fritti 5 stars is because a lot of the other food there is pretty basic. If I rated just the pizza, I would give it 5 stars, but most of the pastas and salads are good, or just okay.
This is how I would rate each thing we ordered individually:
Salad: 2-3 stars The salad had far too much oil on it, and the toppings were pretty kind of sparce. I make better salads at home, which are much cheaper.
Bruschetta: 2-3 stars It was okay, but not super flavorful. I do think that they may have changed this item since the last time I had it, which was a few years ago. It was actually better this time, but it could have had more herbs and flavor.
Drinks: 3-4 stars the cocktails were good, but not amazing. They were a little sweet, and it seemed like they were trying too hard to make some creative cocktails. I think at an Italian restaurant it is okay to have some standard classic cocktails that you can make well, and just call it a day.
Calamari: 4 stars I really like their calamari. I think it is some of the best in the city, but not the best I have ever had. The batter is cooked very well. It is not too crispy, but not soft, or soggy. The texture of the calamari is really good. Also, they have tentacles, and not just rings, which I love. Many places just serve the rings, and the tentacles are so much better.
Pizza: 5 stars We ordered the Maialona, which is my favorite. It has spicy meats, and black olives. The pizza is thin, and you can fold it into a little pizza sandwich. It is hands down one of my favorite pizzas in Atlanta.
Fritti is great. I will definitely be back for calamari and pizza. Hopefully some of the other dishes will improve in the future, and I can bump...
Read morePicture this. It’s your last weekend in Atlanta. The vibes are high and the craving for pizza is even higher. So you head to Fritti, where you’ve had pleasant experience after pleasant experience with friends who’ve become more like family.
Sipping on espresso martinis. Discussing the glorious culinary experience that is biting into a Crocchette Di Melanzane. Laughing at inside jokes as jazz plays in the background. This was what we loved about Fritti.
But as life has a way of doing, the clouded illusion of love was ripped from the depths of our collective heart during our past visit.
It started with the hour wait, which was understandable considering the flood of people around Inman Park that temperate spring night.
However, what was promised to be an hour wait soon turned to tragedy. After our second drink by the bar, we glanced at the clock to realize we had been there two hours. No update. No apology. Just a stranded friend group looking for their table they once called home.
When we were finally seated, we had to flag down our own waiter just to hydrate our now exhausted bodies. Another 30 minutes passed with nothing but water before we finally ordered.
As always, the food didn’t disappoint but still left a sour taste in our mouth. Why? Because this was a cold shell of the service we were used to experiencing.
When we chatted with the manager they said they couldn’t do anything about the horrible experience. Only gelato. And while we enjoy that classic Italian treat as much as the next refined-palate friend group, it wasn’t enough for the utter lack of service we received over the course of what turned into a 4 hour dinner.
What will be our go-to place headed into the future? Who knows. But I do know that the hand will now hesitate when it hovers over that “reserve table” button on Fritti’s website.
So long my Italian treasure. Maybe one day you’ll learn how to mend my...
Read moreI am Italian and I was in town just for few days. I can tell that the food here is very good, I only had a pizza and some appetizers, however everything was delicious (including the ice cream). My poor review is due to the service. I had to ask 10 times to do something about the A/C which was just too bad. I had a cold wind on my neck that was making me very unconfortable. All the people at the tables around me were wearing their jackets/scarfs/sweaters and it was a very very hot day in June. In the end, after asking many times and not being helped, we finally changed table. The owner did not come to apologize nor offered us anything to compensate the discomfort. This is not italian style, shame on you. With such a beautiful place and good kitchen you should be nicer to your clients. Just a suggestion.

I was the only italian at the table. All my american friends were complaining as well, and definetely more than me. Your A/C system is terrble! Americans like to be cool, not to eat with freezing wind on the neck, nobody likes that!
You did not offer us a different table. You left us there in an uncomfortable situation. When we were waiting for the dessert we moved to one of the numerous free tables around because we could not stand the A/C anymore. We changed table because we were exasperated. The solution should have been offered by YOU. We behaved unpolitely changing table without being offered this solution, however what was the alternative?
Your comment clearly tells a lot about your idea of hospitality. I think the smart thing for you to do was saying you were sorry for the inconvenience instead of blaming me because I am Italian and I am not...
