When I first signed up for a membership, I specifically asked if there was a cancellation fee. Bruce who signed me up said that there was not, but there was an initial sign-up fee (which was expensive as well I might add). I was told the membership would be charged month to month and I could cancel anytime. I 100% know I asked this because Iâve been to many gyms over my lifetime and have been surprised with crazy cancellation fees, so itâs always one of my first questions when deciding upon a new gym. The gym is great if youâre into group fitness classes like kickboxing and boxing, but the weight section is very small and underwhelming. After a few months of membership and the gym being closed 12-4pm due to covid restrictions, I realized it wasnât fitting my needs in terms of equipment and open availability (I prefer to work out midday). When I reached out to cancel, I was informed Iâd have to pay a $392 fee to cancel the membership (apparently half of the remaining one year membership in combined monthly charges). $392 is a ridiculously high number to cancel a membership for a gym. I told them about how I asked if there was a cancellation fee, but they said I must be mistaken.
Secondly, when I first reached out to cancel the membership, X3 told me it was cost $392. For that amount of money, I needed to think a little about my decision. In the two weeks I was putting off my decision, I was charged my normal $99 for the monthly membership. Not mad about that since I didnât confirm the cancellation for the membership. What I am mad about is when I reached out to Deb today to confirm my cancellation, I specifically mentioned in the e-mail, TWICE, that I had been charged my $99 monthly rate since I first reached out so half of the remaining balance for cancellation should be lower than $392 now. However, I think she either didnât see or disregarded my mention on it in the e-mail because I was charged the whole $392. I feel cheated and honestly disgusted on how hard and expensive it was to get out of a membership. Especially during covid and the gym only being open half the hours a day. Iâd only join this gym if youâre serious about it and guarantee youâll keep the membership for the whole duration of your...
Read moreI've been a member of X3 Sports-Inman Park for a little over 2 years and have really enjoyed my fitness journey. Initially, I started with taking their Fast Track class (which is a fantastic workout) on a daily basis until I decided to focus on my muscle gains and a more defined/toned body.
After various chats with Shawn Hunter, my fitness coach/personal trainer, and sharing with him what I really wanted to work on he suggested to try his Personal Training sessions. This has been one of the BEST decisions I've made because of the results-physically and mentally! I've been working with Shawn on a 1-on-1 basis for a little over 7 months now and the results have me hooked! It's impressive to see how the dedication with sticking to our routine shows such great results. Not only does he provide a very professional and world class motivational fitness coaching approach (i.e Personal Training/PT) but he has also helped me with meal planning and advice on post workout tips. Shawn's PT sessions are tough but extremely rewarding because I know he has my goals at the forefront each time we meet and I've seen significant results.
To supplement my 1-on-1 time with Shawn I also started taking their Power Track classes with Bill Hogue for the additional focus on muscle gain which was yet, another GREAT decision! The classes have a well defined weight lifting schedule that I know Bill takes pride in creating and working with his participants. They are fun and engaging while providing results.
When I see my 'before and after' pictures after working with Shawn and Bill the motivation to keep going is such a great feeling. Each of them have contributed to my progress and I look forward to our continued fitness partnership.
X3 Sports-Inman Park is more than just a typical 'gym' because of the many fitness options they offer and I would recommend them to anyone. A few of my friends have also joined X3 because of the positive feedback I constantly share (including out of town visitors who have joined me with day passes and loved it).
Shawn, Bill and X3- thanks for being...

PROS: -flexible locations, you can go to any and try out different instructors you like -facilities relatively clean -instructors and staff working facilities are fairly nice and professional -some instructors I found to be very good
NEUTRAL: -most of the instructors are pretty good in my opinion. 75% of them I liked. The only ones I didn't like were ones that had never competed or stepped into a ring. Some of those guys might have been ok for some basic stuff or people who want to lose weight but overall some I think they thought a bit too highly of their fighting/teaching abilities. -there were some big names coming from UFC but those instructors I didn't find to be superior to ones who had competed in local promotions. If they fought better, it didn't seem to transfer in their ability to instruct/teach. Often these guys were riding on the prestige of the UFC and were not nearly as good as some guys who had done smaller fights (though with stellar records)
CONS
-little emphasis on wrestling in MMA. All BJJ sparing starts on the ground, which is unrealistic and not even how it works in sport BJJ. But if you want to eventually try sparring for real MMA full rules or even competing, you're out of luck with the offerings here unless you wrestled in high school. Honestly X3 should be able to find someone to teach a wrestling class in the ATL area. BJJ is focused towards sports ju jitsu and not really MMA or even street fights
-There should be an MMA class that bridges everything, instead of treating all the disciplines in isolation
-You are locked into a yearlong contract which the company who manages gave me a hard time about providing insurance documentation instead of a drivers license after I moved to a different city. There is a cancellation fee of approximately one month's worth of membership. It seems a little scammy
Overall I'd say if I could do it again I would have tried a...
