I have been going to Georgia State for four years now and I have never experienced such blatant rudeness blatant and careless assistance yesterday on September 10, 2024 at 8pm I came to the student center for a debate watch party that I had to attend for one of my courses there were no signs anywhere to instruct you on where to go I am also not familiar with navigating through the student center because I am one of those students who went to any Georgia state events during my entire duration of attending here so I asked the student center helpdesk how I was supposed to get to the presidential debate event two young ladies sitting down at the desk, gave me a generalization of where to go upon going. All doors were locked and there were no further assistance in those areas so I had to return back to the desk and ask someone if they could possibly get somebody a little more seasoned to escort me , specifically where to go because clearly they did not know and if they did they were not doing a great job explaining.…considering I had already circled around the campus multiple times attempting to find my destination, and I got there at 7:40ish and it was now 8:22pm and I was still wondering around aimlessly.. one of the young ladies was reading a book and she had braids and she was dark skin and she had a fuller face. She never looked up from her book once to jump in and help she actually rolled her eyes several time and sighed everytime I said something to the other girl... the other young lady was lighter toned with curly black hair and she may be either biracial or possibly Ethiopian. They both were very rude and they discussed amongst themselves what they were not going to do and that they were not going to get up from the desk to help me find where I was going their instructions that they were giving me were very unclear , and not very detailed at all they both had very poor attitudes. The one with braids when she did finally address me she addressed me as “Girl” and said “you're the one getting mad and tweaking” and granted this is my 3rd encounter with them in the span of 30 minutes after I am now frustrated... And this is her first thing she has said to be after my 3rd encounter at this desk.Their job is literally to assist students they get paid/class credit hours and/or even possibly discounts for their diligence. These students were very dismissive and extremely unhelpful. I had never experience something like this ever in my life, it was very dehumanizing and extremely traumatizing. I had to call my parent to vent to them how heighten this situation got and emotionally made me feel it made me feel like a movie charectet. Who was trying to be calm, but dealing with two individuals who could actually care less if I make it to my destination or really what I have going on at all when it’s literally their job to help me. It’s like crying for help , and everyone is just walking past you or just showing you that they literally genuinely...
Read moreSo our youngest is entering college. We are now officially presiding over an empty nest 🪹 🎊👏🏽🙏🏽. As part of our process, yesterday was orientation at Georgia State. What an awesome experience. I was more excited than the actual students. The student center "EAST " hosted all of the parents and incoming students in a manner I can only compare to a corporate retreat. Amenities like food, hot and cold coffees ☕️🧋, flavored and regular water, food, desserts, etc. accommodated the diverse gathering. The rooms were spacious, and the seating comfortable. The staff and student assistants were thorough in their knowledge and plentiful in enthusiasm. Everyone from any department was made available to us and our incoming students. I was very impressed with THE STATE WAY. 👏🏽 🐈⬛(baby panther emoji 😂) We chose the right higher...
Read moreThis place has a lot of great events, so it’s definitely a spot students come through. That said, the front desk experience could be better. The staff at the desk are very upfront, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes it comes off as dismissive or uninterested. It would make a big difference if they were a bit more approachable and focused on helping students who ask for assistance rather than being more worried about talking with...
