Read moreWe met our friends here for lunch while visiting Atlanta. We got in right around noon on Saturday. It was surprisingly quiet, at least for the first 30-45 minutes of our meal, which was nice. The restaurant has a comfortable, quiet, warm vibe -- velvety barstools, dim lighting, etc.
They serve brunch, too, which is fun and which we didn't expect. Our waitress, Margot (who was lovely and did a great job), made sure we knew we could order off brunch or lunch menu, or mix and match to our content.
One thing I loved was you could get a small side of any of their curries! Erased my indecisiveness because I was able to get both things I wanted. :) I ordered pad see ewe with chicken and a side of panang curry with a Thai tea to drink, while husband had their chicken wing appetizer and the massaman curry and roti appetizer. My friend tried the chicken satay sandwich from the brunch menu, while her fiancé had the shrimp and "grits," which is made with congee instead of grits. Everyone else had guava or mango mimosas. Husband tried to order a hibiscus gin and tonic but they were out of tonic water. However, everyone enjoyed the mimosas, so no great loss. My Thai tea was refreshing and a generous portion.
My friend and her fiancé seemed to enjoy their meals. She's a light eater but managed to make her way through 1.5 of the 2 sandwiches on her plate, so that's probably high praise! Her fiancé cleaned out the shrimp and congee and said it was very good, though could've used a few more shrimp.
I enjoyed my pad see ewe, though I did think it was a little dry and I wished for some more broccoli (Chinese or American would've both been fine). That being said, the panang curry might've been the best version of the dish I've ever had. Creamy, rich, decadent, and decently spicy. I wish I'd had that as my main entree. Really delicious.
Husband liked his wings quite a lot; he proclaimed the ones here much better than the wings he ate later in our trip at Fox Bros, lol. I think the roti with massaman curry was by far the weak link of the outing. The roti had a great, satisfyingly soft and chewy texture, but the massaman curry was suuuuuper sweet. None of us were especially fond of it.
Overall, we had quite a nice lunch at this place. Probably the highlight of our dining experiences for this visit to Atlanta. ...
Read moreA couple of weeks ago, I visited 26 Thai Kitchen & Bar in Midtown for the first time, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with a stylish decor that perfectly blends modern and traditional Thai elements, setting the perfect mood for a delightful evening.
We started with the Crispy Spring Rolls and Edamame as appetizers. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy and packed with flavorful fillings like glass noodles, taro, cabbage, and carrots, complemented by a sweet Thai chilli sauce. The edamame was simple yet delicious, steamed to perfection with just the right amount of sea salt.
For the main course, I ordered the Pad Thai with crispy tofu and opted for a hot spice level. The dish was outstanding! The rice noodles were perfectly cooked and blended seamlessly with the tamarind sauce, scallions, bean sprouts, peanuts, and lime. The crispy tofu added a wonderful texture, and the hot spice level was just right, providing a satisfying kick without overwhelming the other flavors.
To complement the meal, I had a Thai Iced Tea, which was the perfect refreshing drink. It was rich and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness, balancing out the spicy flavors of the Pad Thai wonderfully.
The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff who made sure our dining experience was top-notch. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. The overall ambiance of the restaurant made the dining experience even more enjoyable, with a lively yet comfortable atmosphere that made it easy to relax and savor the meal.
I highly recommend 26 Thai Kitchen & Bar to anyone looking for authentic and delicious Thai cuisine in Midtown. I can’t wait to return and try...
