Fruit flies, dirty glassware, foul odors.
We tried Cypress based on photos of their burgers and sandwiches. We pulled up to the bar and I'm immediately struck by an overwhelming sickly-sweet odor, maybe from yeast & bacteria in the pour-area or clogged drain lines. Whatever the source, I told the bartender about the foul odor and then moved to a booth. She could not have cared less. Once in the booth (table 21), things weren't much better, with crumbs on the bench and on the table top. Lauren came by and took our drink and appetizer order, and soon returned with a glass of Hopstix. I pointed out the visibly dirty glass, and she replied, unperturbed, that they've been having problems with the dishwasher. She did not offer a clean glass. I then asked her if the kitchen was clean (the first time I've been compelled to ask), given my doubts from the foul-smelling bar and the dirty glass. She assured us that the kitchen was "very clean" and that she eats there regularly. The sweet potato pub fries were pretty okay, though most of the fries were soggy and the cheese sauce was bland. The waffle fries in the photo looked much more appetizing. Would not order again. Then the flies start in on us, buzzing constantly in and around the booth. I understand that it's summertime in Georgia, the doors are open, that's nature. But the fruit flies seemed almost overwhelming at times, to the point where we had to swat them away mid-bite. Perhaps related to the smell of ferment at the bar, and the general lack of cleanliness? Fortunately, the smashburger and the Cuban sandwich were delicious, well-prepared and -seasoned. However, I cannot recommend that anyone eat here due to the overwhelmingly dirty, grimy feel of the place. We left with greasy smell in our hair and clothes, and shampooed and showered promptly upon returning home. The whole experience was truly disappointing, because the burger and Cuban sandwich tasted great... but I just do not trust the health and safety standards of this restaurant.

Read moreWe found street parking. Surprisingly larger than I thought. Much seating outside and good seating inside. The warmers are great outside as for a cold night many people were outside and warm, great. A bit dark inside. Fair bar food options and large bar beverages selection.
The quinoa salad was 10/10. A bold choice for a bar menu that is perfect. The dressing was delicious and the salad was cold like a salad it should be. The lettuce was fresh rinse tasting. I’d order this salad every time I came. Jalapeño coleslaw was delicious to me10/10. Didn’t taste like jalapeño at all, I was expecting spicy, taste like a quality traditional slaw. The cod taco was cool. It was the Monday $3 special. It should be $3 all the time. The corn taco shell isn’t amazing but the fish, slaw and sauce work. The beers seemed slender in that glass, I feel like at some other bars we’ve received a larger glass of beer at the same price.
The burger looked better than it tasted. 7.5/10 It tasted fine, it just looked better than it tasted. The bun was somewhat stiff and the meat ratio was less than the bread, even though it’s a smash double patty. The fries are small portion. I’m thinking the number one tasting dish at a bar is probably the burger or wings and it was the salad here which was unique.
The bar attendant has good attentive service. He was making drinks and going to the back to get food seamlessly. You couldn’t tell that it was one of him. Restrooms needed cleaned and i didn’t love the metal pipe mirror/sink. Too rusty industrial.
Some of the outside seating is placed all the way to the road on the sidewalk, which is odd if someone was seating that far out next to the corner road as traffic watches you eat. A $60 check for two people who had a meal, small app and drink is expected in Atlanta. I was still a bit hungry when I left though. I could come back here for sure for that salad...

We went to this restaurant last night for dinner and drinks. The service was horrendous from when we arrived until we left. The bouncer did not speak to me and expected me to understand that an ID needed to be shown to enter. We joined our friends and became a group of 8. The table we were at only had one menu. The server told us he did not have time to wait for us to decide on what we wanted to eat, and while some of us were ordering food, he literally walked away. Mid order. We were able to order appetizers. Food was brought out ten minutes after we sat - it was another table’s food. We were able to give the table one of the entrees as it had not yet been touched - the server never resubmitted the couple’s order so one of them never got the meal they ordered. Our appetizers were brought out at the end of dinner. The food was phenomenal. At one point during dinner, I went to the bar to order drinks. After returning to my table, the bartender came out with a mean face and accusatory tone (strong macho man vibes) that I had not paid for my drinks. I was sitting at a table at the restaurant so it was obvious that I was not maliciously planning to get free drinks and then dash out of the restaurant.
We were able to speak with the manager to address the awful service. The manager was very kind and understanding but clearly overwhelmed. He stated that it had been a busy two hours at the restaurant.
Overall, the food was delicious but the service was abhorrent. It was evident that there was tension and miscommunication occurring between the staff at Cypress - why the staff were unable to prevent that from affecting their...
