I had the privilege of working as a Naturalist here back in 2015 and now had the wonderful experience of being able to return yesterday as a visitor! Even after all these years, Walking Mountains and its mission just stay with you for life. I love everything this organization stands for and I’m so proud to say I had the opportunity to work here and learn so much about the natural world and environmental stewardship! I enjoyed a great conversation with Maddie at the front desk who told me all about the amazing work Walking Mountains has been doing since I was last here. She was awesome to talk to and you can tell she is so passionate to be a part of it. We then joined a guided nature walk with Taylor and she was absolutely wonderful. Taylor taught me some new things about some of my favorite Colorado plants and animals! The best part about the tour with Taylor is that she dives in to awakening all of the senses with the natural world and puts emphasis on how we can connect with nature on a deeper level. I’m so happy that we had the opportunity to learn from her! Thank you Walking Mountains for all you do. I will try to visit again as...

After 25 years of living in this Valley and not knowing how, where or what to do to enjoy the Outdoors, thanks to the Eagle Valley Outdoor Movement (EVOM) and Renata, my family and I have had the privilege of enjoying and getting to now this wonderful Valley by doing all kinds of Outdoor activities like hiking, climbing, rafting, skiing, camping, and learning about nature. Renata is a wonderful, caring person always doing her best to make sure you get to enjoy the best out of every single activity we do! She always takes her time to answer question, and share her knowledge. She is more than a guide, she is a great friend. Always willing to get you Outdoors and help you learn about nature and the environment. I wish we had more organizations like EVOM and more wonderful people like Renata! Renata is a great asset to this community! Thank you Walking Mountains for finding Renata and for all the wonderful programs you offer! Without EVOM we would not have been able to enjoy the privilege of doing all the activities we have done and all the places we have discovered! Thank you a...

During our stay in Avon, my family happened upon the Walking Mountain Science Center. While the center itself is small, it has a ton of activities and surprises for people of all ages. They offer walking tours daily in both Avon and Vail.

Gabby, our tour guide, did an amazing session with our group. She ensured that everyone was involved and the kids weren't bored. We learned so much about the local area that even our 6 year old was excited and couldn't stop talking about the hike. For any locals and any visiting the area, I can't emphasize visiting this campus for a unique learning experience. All the instructors are enthusiastic and are wonderful conversationalist.

We had an amazing time. We can't wait to visit again the next time we're in town!

If you plan to do the nature walks, register in advance as it'll make check-in smoother and quick. The tours are free. If you plan to do the hike in Vail, it will require a lift ticket, but the hike...

The Walking Mountains Science Center is a nonprofit organization whose mission statement is "to awaken a sense of wonder and inspire environmental stewardship and sustainability through natural science education." What an important and honorable mission! They offer programs for varying ages, and many are free or low cost. We dropped by here after spending Memorial Day weekend at Beaver Creek. The Center was closed, but there was a friendly and helpful staff member present who still let us look around. After, we explored the grounds and walked a trail that was easy for even toddlers to navigate. Everything was green and beautiful. We hope to go back one day when the Center is open, so we can take advantage of a program. Coloradans are blessed by Mother Nature so it's important we learn about, respect, and take care of our environment. The Walking Mountains Science Center epitomizes these values and I'm thankful for what it does!

I urge anyone who is in Avon to check out the facility and donate to their cause. They are a non-profit and rely on fundraising and grants to continue their mission. The Center offers a myriad of programs and hikes for all levels of fitness and interest. They also have programs for kids. I went on a hike with a group and a guide from this Center last weekend. It was a very enjoyable experience. We went to the Holy Cross Wilderness and hiked up the 7 Sisters Lakes trail. It was not a trail for everyone. It was rocky and steep in places, but it was beautiful and great to be in the outdoors. And the guide was very helpful in showing us the way and keeping us on track.
