This place was AMAZING!! My husband & I spent the day in Hunt Valley and was looking for stuff to do. We found the Baltimore City Fire Museum and thought why not. Not expecting much, head over there. I will say, it's in the cut of a large parking lot, which was kinda funky. Anyway, we get there and our tour guide was the most charismatic story teller that you would not expect at a museum. Charlie's passion was so infectious that we couldn't help but be excited as well as in awe about the history of fire fighters. We ran out of time, so we didn't get to finish the tour, however, we do plan to go back another time and request Charlie by name.

This is a great place to learn how a fire department operates. Knowledgeable docents talked to me for 3 hours, explained everything from fire boxes and communication equipment, to fire engine and personnel protection gear. They are retired firefighters and have endless stories! The museum is only open once a month. I'm told they are open from April to November, on the third Sunday of the month, from 12:00 to 16:00. If you are able to get in, it's worth seeing, and worth a donation.

Only open one day in 2021 (today September 18th) been waiting to visit since I moved to the area in July. Thoroughly enjoyed the museum, so much history captured of not only Baltimore FD, but the fire service in general. Interesting apparatus and little exhibits to checkout. Spent about an hour poking around, reading, and learning. Would have been so cool to have gotten to climb to the top of the bell tower/fire lookout!

Would not recommend. The building is difficult to find for someone out of town. The neighborhood is a ghetto with this building being the only one not shuttered on the entire block. My wife did not feel safe while we parked and tried to find this building because of the neighborhood and the 'down and out' people standing around in clusters and walking around. Since we did not get to go inside (because the times posted online and what was posted by the door differ) I'm not sure to the quality of the exhibits. I'm sure they had a lot of interesting fire artifacts but I would not recommend anyone with a...
