Horrible. I will never, ever attempt to go to this theatre again. We got to the Regency 20 forty minutes before show time. There were already people standing in line. They didn't open ticket sales until 11:00 am for shows starting at 11:30. You now have to select a seat and unless you give these people more money and have some account with them you can't do that until you get your tickets. You cannot see what seats are available until you get to the window, so by the time you get to the window everything is pretty much sold out. Since it was a matinee there were quite a few senior citizens there With ONE person manning the ticket counter, the line moved at a glacial pace. Did I mention they used the ticket booth on the outside of the theatre so everyone could stand in the hot Florida sun? We would have left earlier, but my husband told a gentleman who could not stand because of a bad back and was there by himself, that he would hold his place in line. There was absolutely no one there from AMC to help this person, or any one else with health issues. This is Florida and there are a lot of old people here. Making them stand in the sun is ridiculous. We did not even get to the window in time to see the movie on time because the line was so slow. We stood there so long, I actually got eaten alive by mosquitoes. Yes. It was that bad. We don't go to that many movies and this nonsense is exactly why. I am not paying AMC more money to get the same service we used to get without paying extra. Other foolish people may be happy to throw their money away this way, but we are not those people or that desperately in need of entertainment. In about three months this movie will be on pay-per-view cable where we can watch it for $5.99 without the concern of some nut shooting up the theatre, or enduring the ridiculously nasty treatment AMC dishes out.
The real kicker was when I went to their website and I was required to have an account with them to even complain about their horrible customer service. What this tells me is that they just don't care. First of all, I don't work for AMC. The nature of our interaction is that I give them money and watch a movie. That's it. I might get some popcorn too, but that is only if I can get in early enough to find a decent seat. I don''t want a special account with AMC, so some corporate entity who doesn't care enough to listen to my consumer complaint can further pry into my privacy. Duh. From today's experience, I'm pretty certain I am not the demographic to whom they are trying to appeal any way because we just are not that desperate to see a movie. Requiring an account before I can even submit a complaint to them or talk to a customer representative, tells me is that AMC doesn't have any interest in its customers at all.
This is the last time we will ever go to an AMC theatre. I never thought I'd say this but compared to this bull...
Read moreHaven't been to the movies in years, but tonight was our first date night in quite a while. The mall was very empty to begin with, and there was nobody hanging around the theater. There was no one at any of the ticket booths and one usher just inside the entrance. Three employees were behind the counter talking to each other. And other than my wife and I, there was nobody else to be seen. Boy, things have changed. There was almost nobody here, and it felt very strange. Now I do need to admit, the last AMC theater we visited was out in the Denver area just before Covid came into play. I now see for myself why the theaters are having such a hard time staying open. I'm not sure what it's going to take for the industry to recover except to say, just keep pushing forward. It's nice for a couple to go out for a date night, dinner, and a movie. Get out of the house and out from behind the television, step away from constant social media connections and movie streaming services. It's time once again to make going out on a date, a special event, and mingle with other people.
Let's hear the occasional voices behind you while sitting in the theater watching the movie. Talk to the employees standing behind the counters who are helping you get your snacks and let them know you appreciate their customer service. Leave the everyday problems and anxieties outside the doors. Embrace the fantasy of delving into the movie and letting yourself go from reality.
This AMC theater is just the place to let everything go and enjoy yourself. I would suggest, though, creating a more festive experience in the lobby and down the hallways, to help visiting moviegoers get excited about coming to the movies again. Set up the billboards and posters of coming attractions. Make it a point with mentioning that coming attractions are only viewable in the theater weeks and months before being released to streaming, BlueRays or DVD's and instill a sense of urgency and excitement about going to the movies again.
After our date night and were driving back home, both of us expressed a sense of relaxation and weight having been lifted from our shoulders. Anxiety was gone, frustration was gone, and for a little while, all was right with the world, and we felt good.
This AMC theater is a really good place to visit, so I highly recommend visiting for a great evening out. Don't be afraid to turn your phone off. It's okay to be out of social media contact for a few hours. Let your imagination run free as you watch a movie on the big screen and just enjoy life again. You won't regret letting your inner child out of the box.
Oh, and hay, how about looking into bringing back some of the older vintage cartoons and showing a couple before the movie starts. Sometimes, the best way to move forward is to take...
Read moreSoo disappointing. My uncle and I used to go all the time when I was a kid just about every weekend. I remember the service being A1. To come in town as an adult thinking it would be nice to go see a movie with my uncle along with my mother who is deaf. Boy, what a mistake. I went in there just for my mother to not be able to enjoy the movie, and I ended up missing at least 30 minutes of the movie due to faulty subtle devices. The first device never came on my mother, and I spent about 5-10 minutes trying to get it on, so I took it back to the front was giving another one after standing in line for about 10 minutes. Don't get me wrong, it was crowded and he was the only one working that area, but acknowledgment would've been nice it's not like the guy didn't see me standing there holding this long device. Anyway, I got the other one went back into the theater got it working just for it to say battery low like 5 minutes later. I get up go back out there ended up standing near the line for another 10-15 minutes before being told there weren't any more devices avaliable. No compassion or any regards of the inconvenience that caused me or my family. I noticed the rack that held the devices only had like 6-8 slots. There's at least 30-40 seats per theater and all you have is 8 subtitle devices. That's ridiculous I started to ask to speak with a manager but when I read the guy's name tag he was the manager. SMH even more disappointing, they gave a management position to a person that not only can't handle stress or being under pressure but has no compassion for inconveniences of the families or customers in general. Not once did he apologize for the inconvenience he didn't even offer a refund on my mom's ticket I had to ask for one and after thinking about how I missed at least 30 minutes of the movie and how his demeanor was very shitty I figured I needed a refund on my ticket also. I wasn't the only one disappointed that day I don't think I'll be going back no time soon hopefully it was just a bad day for the guy. If it was he needs to learn how to deal with being overwhelmed before holding that...
