Date of Stay: Sunday, 8/3/25 - Thursday, 8/7/25|Length of Stay: 4 Nights||In a nutshell, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is a great option for travel to Chicago! With a convenient location in Chicago's South Loop, and a direct connection to the McCormick Place Convention Center, it offers excellent modern accommodations along with stellar staff and service. The property boasts AMAZING views of Lake Michigan, and is truly a great place to stay!!!||Now, for my detailed review:||I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place for an International Conference held at the adjacent McCormick Place Convention Center. The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place was the Host Hotel for the Conference, and I could not have been happier with all aspects of my stay!||The property itself is comprised of two large towers, both offering excellent views of Chicago and Lake Michigan. Directly between the towers, you will find the property's Main Lobby, which was always very well staffed with always friendly and polite Front Desk Hosts, and even with peak conference check-in and check-out, there was very rarely a long wait. As is usual at most Hyatt properties, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place offers a separate line dedicated to Elite Members of the World of Hyatt Program. Overall, you should have a very pleasant experience upon arrival and departure at this excellent Chicago property.||Rooms at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place are all very modern and well-equipped. Standard Rooms start at 380-square feet, which is substantially larger than most rooms that you will find in Downtown Chicago. As per Hyatt brand standards, all rooms are equipped with televisions that allow for ChromeCast, which is a great evening diversion should you wish to stream from your own devices. Additionally, all rooms offer excellent views either of Chicago itself or of beautiful Lake Michigan. Needless to say, with two high-rise towers, you can expect excellent views -- but for the best views, I suggest to book a Lake View Room. The views of Lake Michigan are truly outstanding, and you will not be disappointed! ||As I was responsible for entertaining some of my colleagues, I opted to book a larger Suite -- while my colleagues all had excellent standard rooms, the Suites at this property are some of the largest around! I was assigned a beautiful Suite on the 16th Floor (top floor) of the North Tower. I knew that I was in for a treat as I approached, as the Suite was labeled the "Park Suite." Upon entry, I was in awe at one of the largest Suites that I have ever encountered! My "Park Suite" had a half bath in the entry way, a massive living area, a separate kitchenette and a bedroom with a massive master bathroom -- the bathroom boasting the largest hotel shower that I have ever seen! One of the best features of this Suite was the massive floor-to-ceiling windows that provided a truly spectacular view of Lake Michigan as well as Downtown Chicago! All-in-all, the accommodations at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place are some of the best that I have ever experienced in Chicago! I have attached numerous photos of my Suite to this review. ||As to its location, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is located in Chicago's South Loop Neighborhood and is a bit of a trek from the Downtown Area. However, ride-share options are plentiful and it is very easy to get to the Downtown Tourist Area should you wish. But, despite not being Downtown, there are plenty of options in the South Loop -- you are very close to Soldier Field and Wintrust Arena. Additionally, you are close to Hyde Park and just a very short walk to Lake Michigan and the Chicago Museum Campus which includes such wonderful venues as the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium. Finally, you are conveniently located near some of Chicago's Best Pizza Spots -- Giordano's and Lou Malnati's. All-in-all, while not right Downtown, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place boasts an excellent location for any stay in Chicago!||As for getting to the property, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is in close proximity to Chicago's Midway Airport; if you are flying to Chicago and have a choice in airports, your best bet is MDW, as the property is only about 9-miles from MDW. Without traffic, you will find it to be a very quick and easy 20-minute drive to/from MDW, however know that if you are commuting during the rush-hour periods, travel times do greatly increase as Chicago is certainly known for its traffic! If you do not have a choice of airports and must fly into O'Hare, you will experience a lot more traffic and a much longer drive time, as it is located approximately 21-miles from the property and on the opposite end of town.||Ride-share is your best bet to and from the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, just know that with surge pricing, transportation costs can greatly vary throughout the day. Should you opt to attempt to drive in the Chicago traffic, however, ample Self Parking is available in a secure attached lot for only $40/day -- a low price unheard of in Chicago, as most venues in the Downtown Area offer Valet Parking only at a substantially higher rate.||If you are in Chicago for a Conference being held at the McCormick Place Convention Center, there is no better choice than the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, as it is directly connected to both sides of the Convention Center for quick and easy access to any event. Additionally, if you are lucky enough to have your Conference be hosted within the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place itself, you will find the Hyatt Banquet Staff to be absolutely AMAZING! While my Conference occurred within the McCormick Place Convention Center, one vendor did hold an event within the Hyatt Regency's Ballroom Space and the facilities and staff were better than I have experienced at most Conference Hotels -- not to mention that the Banquet Food & Beverage was far better than that offered at most properties!||On that note, should you wish to dine on property, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place offers countless options. If you are rushing to a Conference Session, or just want to grab a quick bite, the property does offer an excellent "Market" that is much like you will find at most Hyatt Regency properties these days. The "Market" offered excellent coffees and grab-and-go items, and it also allowed for easy pre-order options via the Hyatt App or via a QR Code on the informational sheet provided at check-in. For an excellent breakfast each morning, do not miss out on "Third Star." Each morning, you will find a wonderful breakfast buffet or you can order from a traditional menu. And, if you are an Globalist Member of the World of Hyatt Program, as this property does not offer a Regency Club, you will receive your complimentary Globalist Breakfast each morning at "Third Star," and you can opt for either the full menu or the buffet option. For lunch, you can enjoy a meal at "Sixes & Eights" and each evening, you can enjoy truly heavenly cocktails, drinks and dinner options at "Arc Bar." With all of those options, plus numerous amazing Chicago eateries within walking distance or a short Uber ride away, you will never go hungry throughout a stay at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place.||As to amenities on property, the property does offer complimentary WiFi, which I found to be at a very decent speed that allowed for streaming content in the evenings. Additionally, the property offers Daily Housekeeping Services, and I found the rooms to be very well kept and clean at all times.||One final Note, as Chicago is a "Destination," this property has recently started charging the ubiquitous "Destination Fee" on all bookings as of July 1; this fee of $20/day plus tax is waived for all Globalist Tier Members of the World of Hyatt Program, and it includes the following:||-Daily $15 Dining Credit for Dinner after 5pm at ARC Bar & Restaurant|-15% Discount on Luxury Car Service to/from Airport|-10% Discount on Luxury Car Service to/from area Venues|-Daily $10 Credit for DIVVY Bikes/Scooters|-Daily 1-hour Hotel E-Bike rental, up to 2 bikes|-10% off meal at Il Culaccino restaurant|-15% off meal at Weather Mark|-10% off meal at Oyster House|-10% off at Momentum Coffee|-10% off at Tea Pot Brew||A vast number of inclusions, and an all-to-common fee in Destination Cities such as Chicago.||In conclusion, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is a truly excellent Chicago Venue to stay for both Conference or Leisure Travel. Its excellent location and tremendous staff make it a great choice, and its amazing views from all of the spacious and modern rooms truly make it a great place to stay! Do not miss a chance to stay at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place should your travels bring you to the Chicago South...

We stayed at the Hyatt for the Chicago Auto Show. I booked about 4 months ahead to ensure we got a room. We arrived at 12pm and check in was at 3pm. I stopped at the concierge to see if they had a complimentary bag check so we did not have to pay the McCormick Place bag checking fees. They offered to check us in right then with no additional charge. That was such a bonus when traveling with a child and luggage for three.
We reserved a city view room with 2 queens. The view was spectacular as you can see in my photos. The room was exceptionally clean and well appointed. The bathroom was spacious with a nicely sized tub/shower. The complimentary toiletries smelled great and were better than expected. They also added cotton, swabs, cotton balls, and a shower cap to the normal toiletries. The vanity area was large and the blow dryer provided was a full size with lots of setting which is a nice change from the mini models in most hotels.
Hyatt beds are always comfortable and these were no exception. There were additional blankets provided if needed. Everything was crisp and clean.
The TV had a great option of signing in to streaming services like HBO, Netflix, and Hulu. That is a huge plus when traveling with kids. The TV was on the smaller side but did the trick. They also provided clearly labeled inputs on the side of the TV.
There were ample charging ports in the room for both conventional outlets and USB ports. There was a large nigh table between the beds for easy charging and storage.
The view was just breathtaking. I highly recommend springing for a city view room if you don't mind spending the extra money for the upgrade. It was worth it.
The room was quiet and the halls were clean and quiet. We had no issues with the elevators being too crowded or slow. We were on the 33rd floor so we were able to use the express elevators for the upper floors which was nice.
The common hotel areas were clean and well appointed. All staff members that we interacted with were kind and helpful. We ate at both "Sixes and Eights" as well as the Market. Hotel food is always overpriced and this was no exception. They have a wide variety of options within their restaurant area from Asian noodle bowels to steak and pasta. They also have a large bar that is open late. The Market offers Starbucks beverages as well as grab-and-go snacks and small meals. We had a small fridge in the room, so I would suggest you bring snacks with if you can. It will save you quite a bit in the end. I believe my turkey sandwich was around $11 and my son's macaroni was $12. I did see both vegan and vegetarian options in the restaurants.
As far as accessibility goes, the halls were wide and easy to navigate. There were ramps and elevators throughout the common areas. We did not stay in and ADA room so I cannot attest to the accessibility of those rooms. Our room was easy to navigate with a large bathroom and space between the beds. The restaurants were accessible was well as the common seating areas. The communal bathrooms in the common areas has a limited number of accessible stalls and were deemed "men" and "women." I did not see a gender-neutral bathroom option which was a disappointment.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and plan to return for next year's auto show. If you are planning a trip to McCormick place I highly recommend booking a room...
Read moreThis was my 2nd time staying with them.
As I was booking my room, I called and asked if I could get any parking space for my stay since I was going to be booking a room. I was declined and directed to the Mccormick website where I did pay for separate parking. Upon arrival, I was asked if I parked, to which I said yes, not knowing that they would charge me on my bill. Nothing else was said by the front desk person, and no there wasn't a line behind me that would cause them to rush me.
After departure, I reviewed my bill and noticed the added parking charges and 2 water bottle charges. Now, I did bring water bottles with me of a different brand to not get mixed up. I never even touched their bottles.
I emailed them and got the money back for the parking but not the water bottles. So if you ever bring water bottles, make sure to throw them out somewhere else. It would have also been nice to know I would be offered parking for my stay to save money for parking in Lot A.
During breakfast, we got seated. We waited for a waiter to come by to take our order and supply us with coffee and water. Each waiter we saw just walked by, so we got up and got some buffet breakfast. By the time we were done eating a plate, I had to flag down one of the waiters just to get some coffee. I understand it was busy, but not one waiter who looked in our tables direction even asked if we had been helped.
Other than these negatives, the room was cozy and convenient for my stay with events at the Mccormick center. Just expect to pay an arm and a leg for breakfast buffet and alcohol. But that's...
