Called on Feb 15th to ask if they had fresh chocolate covered strawberries. Woman told me yes. I drove over 30 mins. I get there and pick a couple of small bags of red cinnamon sugar candy that’s suppose to be like hot tamales & then go to the counter to ask for the chocolate covered strawberries, to which the girl points to infront of the cash register in a box sitting at room temperature. My wife who went to school at the Culinary Institute of America for baking and pastry arts asked “are they fresh today because those are supposed to to be refrigerated if not”. The girl said they were made yesterday but they don’t refrigerate them bc it would make the chocolate crack. Which is silly because I always ordered chocolate covered strawberries from Edible arrangements and 1800 flowers and they were refrigerated and not cracked chocolate. If your chocolate covered strawberries cracks when refrigerated it’s likely because you didn’t temper the chocolate enough first. Anyway, bought them against better judgement trusting the words of the employee since I had bought here years ago and thought the shop was still as good as then but the first bite and it fell the fizz and sour burning of what was FERMENTED strawberries which can make you very sick. Strawberries at room temperature are only good for a day then have to be refrigerated or thrown away. If refrigerated they can last 2-4 days. But these were all fermented.we both ate one and had the same fizzy and harsh sour taste. My upset wife went back in calmly with the two $10 packs of strawberries to ask for a refund and was met with super rudeness from the girl. The girl said she had just had some and they were fine and my wife really wasn’t trying to make a scene but the girl was mad rude and had blatant disregard for maintaining food safety standards under NYS law. The girl eventually gave her her $30 back but said we wouldnt get a refund again (as if we were planning on ever coming back here again for more spoiled / old candies and chocolate lol). Got home and tried the other candy we bought. the chocolate covered marshmallow was actually good, but the cinnamon chewy candies were not chewy at all, hard as a rock almost cracked my tooth on it when they’re not suppose to be hard candies. Clearly these are very old. Store employee we experienced clearly doesn’t give AF about product quality, food safety, and doing ethical business. No ethical business would be selling spoiled food even if it “looks” ok or “seems” fine to your tastebuds, science proves that microbial activity, meaning bacteria growth, occurs in a certain time frame on unrefrigerated chocolate covered (encapsulated) strawberries. If a food inspector had been there at that moment checking those strawberries, they would have failed and been shut down temporarily until reinspected and able to pass. Use to be good spot back in 2013-2015 when I shopped here but I’ll have to find another chocolate and candy shop to give my money to since Alps gives no F’s about the potential of making customers sick with spoiled fermenting foods at room temperature that could cause bacterial infections and other...

I got a few chocolate covered Oreos for gifts for friends, and they were $1.50 each, and the chocolate peanut butter cups (3 in a pack) were $2.50.
The place is accessible (there may have been one step, I don’t remember, but it wasn’t big if so and I found it easy to enter). The walkways were wide and will easily accommodate feet or wheels.
There are TONS of chocolates (from fancy truffles and filled chocolates to chocolate covered Oreos and Devil Dogs to chocolate covered nuts).
Everyone was super helpful and kind, and I actually enjoy the taste of their dark chocolate (I’m pretty picky, so that says something).
There is parking along the street, and I think there are a few lots if that’s full, but nothing directly related to the store (Main Street is...
