Nice store to visit if you’re in beacon, I’ve bought records there, terrible place to try sell your records, you will get a LOT more if you go anywhere else, if you’re looking to sell vinyl do not waste your time and go here, shop around and you will get much better value
Update to the review
I received 4 x what was offered by this business for the 90 records I was selling from my collection hours after visiting this business. The record store that bought the albums is a long standing, highly knowledgable NYC record store in the East Village. They bought the albums at a valuation of 50% of retail value of the records. A lot of the albums were original pressings of jazz albums and other classic records, all were albums that sell through on inventory.
Maybe HVV had a bad day, maybe they were trying to take advantage or maybe they didn't know what they were looking at, they don't have to buy the albums, it's not a problem and there was no complaint to the extremely low $$ value they offered, it was surprising knowing what albums were in there but it's their choice to offer what they want and mine to say no. The initial review is 100% factually accurate and written without emotion. This is a good record store where I have bought records from many times in the past. The interactions following yesterday have been poor though.
In addition to the completely false description of what was being sold and the interaction in the response below I received this negative email from the business before 7am this morning:
"Pretty upset that you left a poor review. Not sure why you brought mostly junky records and doubles of common titles up when we’re over an hour away. Only to get pissed when we weren’t too interested.
If you frequent our shop you’d notice that we never EVER carry records with gouges on them, tape on the cover etc.
You walked away with your records. I’m actually happy I didn’t have to shell out money. But you went and left a crappy Google review. How much did you want for your records? I’d truly love to know. 70% on retail? Why don’t you just sell them yourself if you want so much money. You seem pretty knowledgeable.
You really ruined my day. And month. Possibly my year with your bullshit. I wish you luck. And seriously. If you feel like keeping the review up don’t come back. If it wasn’t for Google people like you would just keep their heads down and kick rocks. "
I wish the business and the staff there well, it is a good store to buy records at, the review is 100% accurate, sell your records elsewhere I have the check to prove that HVV were wrong about the records and are lying about everything in their response to the review. I wish them all the best though, it is a good store to...
Read moreWhile traveling to Beacon NY, I stumbled upon this record store. While not the largest of record stores, the selection and quality of their product was great and surely made up for size! I went in just to puruse and kill some time. I left filling some nice gaps in my collection. Their selection was varied but had many hard to find items. The team was extremely helpful and really knowledgeable on their product. They jumped in to help and when asked about an artist. They new what they had and was eager to show me where. They knew the age and rarity of their items as well. They were also priced very fairly. There product was amazing quality. 40 year old records in pristine shape. Barely a scratch or mark on many. In fact after listening to them at home, my only buyers remorse was that I didn't buy more! Definitely an addition to my top quality record stores. I will definitely make it a regular stop when I am in that neck of the woods. Oh and don't forget to look at the wall... some really valuable masterpeices. While many were to rich for my blood, I felt they were priced fairly as well.
It is a real community based place with lots of locals willing to chat up music as well. Definitely...
Read moreThis review is long overdue but I had a great experience with Hudson Valley, I sold them my entire record collection which was over 200 records, mostly hip-hop/rap but several other genres also, and after some negotiation they gave me a very fair price that I was very happy with, and they offered to come directly to me at my house, which was almost 2 hours away in Connecticut, but we settled on meeting a little less than halfway and they paid for gas and paid me extra, so I was good with that deal!!! Just a great guy to deal with, no problems at all, no attitude, no problems or issues, they showed up on time (even before me) with the cash ready, checked my records and we loaded them in the car and they were off and I was off with a lot of extra cash that I needed to make my move across the country!! They helped me immensely, they really made it possible for me to move back to California from Connecticut and I could never thank them enough, they’re great people running a great business and I’ll forever be a friend and supporter of their business, thank you very very much again to Hudson Valley Vinyl, a properly run, fair and...
