Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival — Local services in Clearwater

My BF and I attended the sugar sands festival this past weekend. I have to say it was a rip off!!!! $14 a person for general admission just to walk in and see an exhibition that takes NO MORE THAN 15 MINUTES. Big fat waste of time and money, as far as I am concerned! The only thing that attracted me to the event was the theme - Decades! It turned out to be quite disappointing for sure. I will not return again next year, I can tell you that! But then again, what do you expect from Clearwater Beach?? Everything is so overpriced - and a major tourist trap! Sorry, but I think I will stick to Madeira Beach where these events are free of charge! Just driving there alone and dealing with all the traffic and finding a place to park (which, btw you will be paying $30-40)...

These Sand Sculptures are breathtaking and it’s amazing to see the skills these sculptors have, I wouldn’t even know where to begin I can barely build a small castle with a dollar store pail. Personally I think it’s a little pricey (14.00/per person) when it only takes 5 maybe 10 mins (at the most) to go through but it’s nice to come enjoy every couple of years very serene and something different to enjoy… an added bonus is its right on Clearwater Beach (other then the hard to find parking) what’s not to enjoy about Clearwater Beach where you always feel your on vacation with every visit! Drove 1 1/2 hours, then 45 miny in traffic and looking for parking. This was on rainy end of Spring Break Sunday. Only parking was by private groups price gouging spaces at $40 to $50. Then $14 per ticket and more waiting in line was really looking forward to it but Florida has many braces and opportunities for events similar and far less crowded. Decided to skip event. My recomm if you really want to go is book a room which will be expensive this time of year. Extremely disappointed. There many beaches that hold similar events with way less hassle.
