I am genuinely surprised by the experience at Red Gravy today. My coworkers and I were at a conference and had 1 hour to eat. Red Gravy is in downtown Co Springs where plenty of people have 1 hour to eat lunch and Red Gravy has a lunch menu to capitalize on this population. Here's the experience- We walked in at 12:02pm. There was no line, 9 tables full, 3 of which already had food, 1 server and a bartender (Paige) who was also serving. After waiting 10 minutes, where two people came in stood in line and left as no one greeted them, we were greated at the door and were told that there would be a 15-20 minute wait by Paige as she said it was simply too busy for two servers. We were patient, hung out and waited while looking at the menu so we could be ready to order. 12:26- We got sat by Paige who declared we would be her table then went behind the bar, despite knowing we had and had looked at menus. Here, having been a server in a downtown location, knowing people with name tags on tend to be in a hurry is when I would have apologized for the wait and asked if we were ready to order. Paige doesn't say anything about the wait, puts down a drink menu, and walks away without waiting for us to sit. Another server returned with water. This server was amazing and very helpful. When she came up we politely told her we had to take off in 30 mintes and asked if we could order now. She was very understanding, took our orders and even offered to print our tickets immediately. She left with out orders and at 12: 32 (6 minutes later) Paige walked up with the worst tone and explained they were unable to rush the food (we didn't ask for that) that the pasta is cooked fresh and took 15/20 mins to cook and asked if we would like the order it. At this point it's past 12:30 downtown lunch and we don't have time to wait in line anywhere else to get sat or even get through the Chipotle line so we decided to stay and that we would eat for 5 mins, pack up the rest and head out. When we said we would stay she rolled her eyes and stomped away saying it would take a while. I said to my co workers that it probably would have been faster if she put the order in immediately instead of waiting over 5 mins to even talk to us. She stomped back, very angry, and told me there was a Chipolte next door and to feel free to go there. I said no thank you and she rolled her eyes and walked away. The nice server brought a drink for the table 10 minutes later, again kind. We asked her if we could get the checks printed and she kindly said yes. Paige walks up, rolls her eyes again, and slams salad bowls on the table. She placed a very nasty salad in front of me (very different from the rest) but I didn't say anything about it, photo attached. When someone else asked for break we got a bit more attitude, paige dropped off the checks, more eye rolling. It continued like this until 1:01 when she offered to box our food which we said thank you to, though of course she didnt put or offer to put silverware in. I waited again 3 more minutes to ask for silverware and received more eye rolls, flipping hair (not tied back of course) and the silverware.. From the moment we walked in (12: 02pm) to when we got our food (1:04pm) we were treated with a serious amount of disrespect and attitude. Mind you the ENTIRE time we were in there, there were never more than 11 tables including us. Seems like Paige can't handle the stress of serving and bar tending and the restaurant is under staffed. I really will not be back for a bit, not with Paravicini's 10 minutes away and Paninos down the street. I genuinely recommend if you are going to spend money on good Italian food go to one of those places.

I'm leaving this review because I feel like the managers response was less than acceptable. The server took good care of us, she was pleasant and attentive. The food was delicious!!! The owner came around and asked how everything tasted and that was nice. I enjoyed the scallops and my sons alfredo was AMAZING!! We had the calamari to start and it was lightly battered, seasoned to perfection and crispy. The meatballs were light and seasoned well. My scalpops melted in my mouth and the putanesca was devine!!! Scallops were a little gritty but thats to be expected with scallops. The only issue we had with the food was that my husbands food came out room temp, he sent it back to be warmed up. It came back out hot and yummy. We were told we couldnt order a grilled chicken with potato on the side a la carte, so we instead had to order the chicken picatta and modify it for our 6 year old. No biggie but irritating since of course she wasnt going to eat a full adult entree. Whatever, most of the time our kids order from the adult menu anyways. The issue we had was we were a table of 2 adults, 3 kids and a 1 year old baby. The check had a 5 guest count but the auto gratuity on the menu said 6 or more guests. While I understand that technically we were 6 bodies, there is absolutely no way we should have had gratuity added. The issue isn't that we don't tip 20%, we actually usually tip more than 20% because we drink and we come with a crap ton of kids. We get it. We are also both from the service industry background, servers and managers. The issue is that my husband is black and we came with 4 kids and we felt profiled. The server and manager had a subpar response and an excuse that blamed the owners policy.. even though nothing on the check indicated we were a table of 6 people. The server would have had to request for the gratuity to be added. We know it isn't something "automatically" done in the system because we didn't make a reservation for 6 people and our check didn't say we were a party of 6. We know better than to accept the bull we were told. If youre going to have a policy of 6 more gratuity then you really should use that with discernment. Many times we eat out as a family and tip well over 20% but in situations like this its unacceptable and should be known that the staff and owners support discrimination. I would have hoped for a better dining experience but it's safe to assume we will not return.

We went to this restaurant tonight for the very first time and this was our experience; The table that my husband and I were seated at was frequently wobbling, then we didn't have utensils. We didn't even get any until our food was brought out and even then it was only because we told the server we still didn't have any utensils. We had made a reservation and even saw other reserved tables that the utensils and napkins were laid out. We asked the waitress if it was possible to move us to another table because our table by the window was cold and the constant wobbling. After 10 minutes and several requests they moved us. The restaurant in general was not very busy but the service was slow and poor. We ordered the food and I had a NASTY surprise on my plate. I had a long hair on one side of my plate. We showed it to the waitress and she told us that she would talk to the chef. After 10 minutes the waitress came to our table saying that the chef would offer us a 50% discount on the plate. In our opinion, this is not fair or professional. Why did we still have to pay for a main dish with a nasty long hair? When we asked for the bill the restaurant gave us a box with the same food that we did not want to eat. Of course we didn't take it because we didn't trust the hygiene of the restaurant. Why? This is not professional at all. If this restaurant really cares about customers they should not charge us for a plate like this and offer us another choice from the menu. This would be a professional solution to smooth over the inconvenience. This restaurant wasn't busy and the customer service was poor. For us tonight was our first and last time in this restaurant and we would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND it to any of our family and friends. Here's some pictures we would like to share.

I am absolutely appalled by the service and the manager of this restaurant. I have been a regular for years and couldn’t believe how I was treated this evening. I had no idea this restaurant was run by such nasty people. Everyone was in a very bad mood tonight. The restaurant was cold so we went to blue. The bartender/waitress order the wrong dish and said this was now the 2nd mistake in a short time, so in an effort to be nice we said we will just keep it don’t worry about it. We still wanted the lasagna that my gf ordered but it took 20min to come out. The server came out at this time with Alfredo sauce only. I had ordered fettuccine Alfredo as a side. She said “that’s what this is.” I said no that’s Alfredo I ordered a side of pasta. She said we don’t do that here. We then ordered desserts and decaf. The desserts and coffee came in to go cups and a to go boxes. They said we closed at 9pm everything is in to go boxes after 9. We asked to take the 2 to go coffees off b/c we wanted them there for the experience with a dessert. Then another server comes out and said the server was very upset by our behavior, she said she was new but was very bothered by our comments about the Alfredo sauce. I said what behavior? We were especially nice by paying and accepting wrong ordered food. She said well you ate the food. We at that point asked to speak to a manager. The manager was absolutely nasty. He said “we have a strict policy to kick customers out at 9pm every night.” I told him this is not how you treat people. I am the owner of mental health agency in Colorado Springs and Denver and you don’t treat anyone that walks in your front door like this. I was hoping the fact that I am also a local small business owner this would resonate but it did not since he had no understanding of the problems his staff had this evening. I love to support small business but i can’t support this one. Everyone has a right to know that this place has horrible customer service. My gf and I also both worked in the restaurant for 7+ years and never worked for a restaurant that kicks customers out when they close. We ordered the dessert 5min prior to close not after close. The manager never apologized and said the server was correct for the drama. We will never be returning for the horrible experience. No customer should deal with such drama. I couldn’t believe the experience we had tonight never in my life have I had to leave no tip. This place has really gone down hill. I hope the owner can read this and reprimand his staff. The manager needs to be...
