Wow. That sums up how I was treated here. Just, WOW. .
I thought that this place was Theodore Blum's Jeweller’s Services (TBJS) simply renamed. Unlike Knight's, TBJS was reviewed by several people here on Yelp as being well liked, highly rated and reasonable. Unfortunately, hoodwinked by Google's poor location service, I took my watch into Knight's and some kid told me it would be, "$650 to start. " .
I looked at him and thought, "Good Lord, Son, do you make $200 an hour?" .
My first clue should have been the need to be buzzed into a tiny store front dominated by dark wood and deep plush carpet. The second should have been all the Rolexes (and ONLY Rolexes) for Sale. .
My guess? He and the owner looked at my watch, decided it was not worthy of their time (spoiler: it's not a Rolex) and simply didn't want to fix it. . I decided that these people live in the Broadmoor and by that I mean The Hotel, not the area Around the hotel. . I have only experienced such snobbery once before in the Springs. That business no longer exists. . Be advised, this place is NOT TBJS and know that you will probably be charged just to breathe the air in here. If their goal was to get rid of what they thought was an obnoxious insect in their store, they succeeded. Trouble is? They insect is now free to express her opinion here and to friends and family. My opinion? Unless you you have money to burn? AVOID.
Oh and P.S. to that kid: Not spending money is how one STAYS a millionaire, NOT how one becomes one. One becomes a millionaire by offering goods or services people actually want to purchase. Over-charging people for goods or services is called “Killing the goose that lays the golden egg. “ It works in the short term, but when people smarten up? They stop coming to...
Read moreBAD REPAIR, HIGH PRICE, BAD POST-SERVICE AND BAD SOLUTIONS I would avoid it for any serious repair.
I accidentally damaged my watch while working on a computer. I took it to KW&J and they said they could repair it. It was done in about 24hrs which was the only good part, I paid the bill, no questions asked. After the repair water started getting into my watch right at the place where it was repaired. This was NOT happening before, so it was a post-repair problem. Simple engineering training and basic technical logic.
After going back to KW&J for a possible follow up, their reply was to send it back to the original manufacturer for sealing. Implying that his work was finely executed and there was nothing he could do. Well, if I had known, then I would have sent it directly to the manufacturer in the first place!!!!
Given that the hermetic seal problem showed up AFTER the repair and the watch was hermetic BEFORE the repair and accident Then I would expect any competent watchmaker to check the hermetic seal post-repair. Why do you expect your client to tell you about a problem that WAS NOT HAPPENING BEFORE repair??? Defies logic!!!
The seal seems to be now defective right at the so-called crown. And moisture/condensation shows right at this point and yes it was AFTER you replaced it. No it is not at the buttons per your explanation and given that you were closed due to the holidays, then there was enough time for the moisture to evaporate (simple physics) . I waited around a week just to visit your store again hoping to find somebody who stands by his work. That DID NOT happen.
So, if you have a serious repair in a nice watch:...
Read moreItem 1: After my dad passed away (2006) I received his Rolex watch which had been resting in my safe until a few month's ago. One day I decided to wind it and I was amazed that it started working and how smooth the second hand was moving. This started my new fascination with watches and led me to Knight Watch & Jewelry. I knew it needed a tune up and Mr. Knight did an amazing job with restoring the watch into "like new" condition.
Item 2: During the restoration period of the Rolex, I started reading up on watches and discovered the Omega Moonwatch and it's history. Well, when I picked up my dad's watch, turns out Mr. Knight had a 1976 "speedy" which I now have in my possession (same year I was born). I love this watch!
Mr. Knight does absolute quality work and sells the best products. He's very personable and extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend him and Knight Watch &...
