I’d really like to address the experience I just had in the concord location. I bring my son in quite often for ice cream or candy as we live close by. He is on the spectrum/autistic . My son gets understandably excited when he comes and gets to do his special things . whilst trying to pick things out with my son he got overwhelmed and excited and ran around the store, with the way the store is set up I was trying my best to catch him but my son started to think it was a game. Instead of asking me if I needed help or simply being light hearted about the ordeal or anything of the kind a gentleman with long hair, ear piercings and his hat on backwards didn’t catch his name started reprimanding my 5 year old autistic son and myself for” running in the store “when it was already plainly evident I was doing my best to wrangle him in already. This made me honestly not want to give you guys business any longer if your staff can’t even have compassion for parents with children especially ones on the spectrum who are in a CANDY store having a whimsical experience they probably don’t get to do already or very often and don’t get to experience a lot of fun things like this for these reasons. It’s disheartening. And I will say I did tell this gentleman to chill out a bit because my sons being autistic and him involving himself was already making my own efforts of trying to correct my child an issue. Tell your staff to learn compassion and maybe ask questions in these circumstances and not taking it upon themselves reprimanding children of the people giving your store patronage.also consider these things can also already be embarrassing for a parent to deal with as it was clear to Me as an adult with common sense already that there is no running in the store and my son was simply EXCITED to be there and having a pretty normal reaction for any child. Then to go over to his coworker, at the sink, rehashing the whole ordeal he just went through with me and making snide remarks about me to them. Come check me out the register it was...
Read moreThis is the best candy shop and definitely the best candy shoppe. When you walk into the place, you get punched in the nose with a sugary fist of sweetness. The place smells so good you'll want to lick the walls like that one scene in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, but they will politely-but-firmly ask you to leave if you do.
The sheer variety of candies they have is impressive, but it wouldn't matter if they were all terrible, which they thankfully are not. I highly recommend the truffles.
The ice cream is amazing too and then you can wonder out to Bicentennial Square to enjoy it where the people watching is incredible. I once saw a photo session for two furries out there and if you don't know what that is, I envy you.
This place is perfect for Valentine's Day, birthdays, and also all the other days because you don't need an excuse to eat candy. The staff is friendly and helpful unless you lick the walls, which again, is not...
Read moreI bought three $10 gift cards at this place, and gave one of them to my mother in law so she could go buy her favorite chocolates. She went in there yesterday, and was told that there was no $ on this gift card which had only been purchased 4-6 weeks ago, had never been used, and which had been sealed up in one of the little envelopes provided up until 5 minutes before she entered the shop. Again, they said there was no $ on the gift card and wouldn't honor it. I'm concerned that the other two gift cards which I gave to schoolchildren as gifts will not be honored, either, which would be very embarrassing. How difficult is it to properly load a gift card? I noticed from my statement that they had no difficulty charging my credit card the $30 for gift cards which evidently have no purchasing value. I will never ever...
