So, I have been a member of the gym for 8+ yrs and this is the first time Iâve ever considered writing a review. But the last 4-5 months have definitely warranted such.
I mostly go to Akers at 99% clip, so I know and have seen the workers and managers of the years. I come workout and play ball đ. Have built relationships up with all the regulars. I my experience has been good. Nothing really to report.
HoweverâŚManagement since the change to the young lady that mostly spends her time at Terrell Mills has been deceitful dubious and dastardly. Wont say her name bcz seems like they are removing post with her name in them, somehow đ¤đ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸
But they have lied on the members of the gym repeatedly all in an attempt to close the basketball court so they can shut it down early and turn it into a full Olympic work out facility. I was told this by Terrell Mill Brunette Barbie Manager.
Last week the lil pawn of a manager Lexi caught someone sneaking in (which is fine by all means run your business correctly). Once she puts that person out of the building, she then uses that situation as the predicate to shut the court down. While weâre are talking to her trying negotiate the fact that punishing 99% bcz of the 1% seems unfair. she put her hands on a gentleman that was bringing a medicine ball in the gym saying he couldnâtâŚthen called the police on him. Saying he harassed her đ
Then super impersonal maintenance guy who somehow never is dressed like a maintenance guy, wonât give us his name puts a chain and pad lock on the door. (Thatâs gotta be fire hazard since the court has an emergency exit.) He then proceeds to tell a member that weâre being punished.
Well the police come take the guy statement. They get his side then ask to speak with Lexi the liar again. But she has fled to the back of the building and from what I was told (though I was sitting right there I missed this part) she, Lexi wouldnât let the police see the video. Why? Bcz it would show her putting her hands on him.
Lexi the liar lied to her manager over at Terrell Mill and only told her about the man sneaking in. But somehow never mentioned the police call or putting her hands on member.
Next day go in to workout court is closed until NovemberâŚwhy you ask? For âmaintenance!â
We called file complaints have left reviews and promise to end memberships which started putting pressure on them, guess what, days later they try to appease us by puttin 1 rim back up. (Oh yea they took them down forgot that part)
Not good enough! We want both rims up and for them to be fair and truthful. Run your business make your but donât treat your customers with disrespect and disdain.
They are sticking to their lies and we are sticking to TRUTH. You know thereâs pressure when pawn Lexi hasnât been seen since that incident bcz sheâs a liar and theyâre trying to protect her.
Protect her all you want BUT weâre stopping memberships if the gym isnât reopened. Might as well go to planet fitness.
Akers mill needs...
Read moreI'm member and I bought training. Having read other reviews, I felt a nice, simple list might help.
2)Atmosphere - All gyms smell like sweat. Deal with it. Clean enough. It's a gym, not a spa. Wash your hands a lot, and use the anti-germ stuff on the walls.
3)Clientele - Once again, it's a gym. Rowdy occasionally, but I've met some nice people there. People who work out are pumped up on testosterone etc. Again, it's a gym, not a tea shop. Mixed crowd. Office folks, a few body builders, but this is mostly a "professional" type gym. 40 something's realizing they are headed down the wrong path. There are always a few guys who try to lift too much, but most people there are very nice, and will help you when you need it.
4)Trainers - I know 3 personally - Very nice. My trainer Jeff is outstanding. Preston is a great guy. Tyler (current training manager) is really nice. I just hang out with these guys at the gym sometimes, and we chat about fitness. No pressure from them, they just like to workout. The trainers have to work within a crappy system and they know it. I'd prefer to train with Jeff in my private gym, but alas, I'm no millionaire.
5)Equipment - I use machines rarely. Some are broken occasionally from hard use. Plenty of free-weights. I've never had a problem finding a bike or treadmill, even at 6 pm. Pretty busy, but there's not much room for more.
6)Juice bar. Nice lady, not affiliated with corporate.
7)Price - expensive, but start walking away and the prices start falling quickly. Push hard for low prices. They won't let you leave without signing up, so the advantage is yours. I pay $30/month, access to gyms all over the place. All other prices are BS.
8)Water, bathrooms, locker. I bring my own water. Bathrooms are clean enough. Naked people are in the locker room, and some are not pretty. Deal with it. Old naked guy shaving? Yep? Pretty, no. Get your priorities straight. Lockers are ok, some are broken. I have honestly never seen anything bad happen in the locker room. No drugs, no harassment etc. People getting changed. Never used the showers.
9)Pool - Often crowded, tough to get a lane to yourself, but again, how many lanes can they have? Clean enough, better than public pools.
Been going to La Fitness for a few years now and itâs progressively gotten worst. Along with missing equipment, unclean environment and numerous other issues, they have instructors there that are so unprofessional and rude.
I use to go to this one guyâs yoga class, Westley, for over a yearâŚnot only was he constantly tardy by sometimes over half an hour, he created an environment that if he or others heâs friends with in class donât like you, theyâll actively go out their way to make you uncomfortable. Especially if you are in better shape than they areâŚ..if you see the picture Iâm drawingâŚ
I literally had to go off on one lady the last time I was in his class because the theme found going to his class is if youâre not interested in being apart of the his âmean girlsâ crowd, theyâll actively take issue with that and do things IN class to make your time unpleasant.
I stayed in the class as long as I did because for OVER A YEAR, Iâd come in, mind my business, do yoga and leave. And yet I had to deal with nasty attitudes, backhanded compliments and passive aggressive behavior from him and those he favorâŚin a YOGA CLASS. Like itâs high school all over again for these people lol!
Now I go to a yoga studio and itâs a complete 180. The instructors are ON TIME, pleasant TO EVERYONE, inclusive and handle disagreements with fairness and care. I still do Zumba at La Fitness from time to time, however, as a woman, hearing an instructor constantly make comments on your physique in a distasteful and disrespectful matter when 1) youâre in better shape than they are and 2) all youâre trying to is workout to keep your mental and physical health in checkâŚis incredibly nasty.
I know someone from La Fitness will probably wanna reach out and ask âWhy didnât you inform anyoneâ? However, when you have a culture where instructors are allowed to be late, can run their class any type of way and hold no accountability for their shortcomings, that truly sets the tone because you canât truly respect people if you donât respect their time or feedback.
Now, I wonât go to his class and when people who inquire ask why, I have chosen going forward to be honest and share my experience because unfortunately Iâm not...
