Say what you want about fast casual chain restaurants, but I'm a huge fan of Blaze Blaze Pizza brings the concept of customized meals to the pizza universe, and customers are presented with a truly dizzying array of options and toppings. The process is simple - choose your dough, cheese type (plant-based cheeses are available), sauce type, and toppings. The raw pizza then goes into a blazing hot oven for a surprisingly short wait and then you can choose your finishings (greens, oils, and/or herbs). Over the years, I've noticed - with great appreciation - that Blaze has expanded its options to welcome all sorts of alternative diets. To wit, there are now four types of doughs available - original, gluten-free, keto, and cauliflower - and when I asked for a gluten-free dough, the server kindly offered to have everyone handling my pizza do a glove change.
The original dough isn't what I'd expect from a traditional pie; in my opinion, it errs more on the side of a thick and stretchy tortilla than a pizza dough. But, as they say, "it's its own thing". The dough is thin and crispy, especially if you request it 'well done', a request to which the servers have been more than amenable.
Speaking of servers, the folks working here are always so polite and helpful. I tend to get on the persnickety side about how much cheese or toppings I'd like, and I've yet to see an eye roll or flicker of irritation. Instead, they're eager to check in and make sure I'm okay with the amount and spread of my chosen toppings, and that kind of service is just the cherry atop the delicious pizza pie.
Pizza is clearly the main eponymous focus here, but there are decent salad options available. There's also a limited number of alcoholic beverages for those who are so inclined.
If you're looking for a New York-style pie, this is probably not going to fit the bill for you. But if you're looking for a quick pizza fix, the customizability and cooking time...
Read moreThis is the first time I've ever had an uncomfortable experience with one of the people making my pizza. I usually come in here a few times a month before the shutdown and this was my first time back there in probably 2 months. I always get the build your own pizza which I now notice is $8.65 and it used to be $8.25 so the price is higher now which takes away from the value because after tax now you're paying over $9 for a small pizza??? I can get a large pizza which is much bigger from one of the competing chains for 9.99 with everything on it which is a MUCH better value. The person I dealt with to make my pizza almost made it feel uncomfortable getting extra cheese? In my head I'm thinking, I'm paying you real money for this pizza you're not making me a pizza for FREE here! So go ahead and put on as much toppings as I like to keep me happy. The point of build your own if you can get as much toppings as you want and I had to ask her 5 times to put more mozzarella cheese on it and every time I ask her for more cheese she was just putting a pinch. It came to the point where I had to tell her I want the entire Pizza covered with cheese and I don't want to see any red sauce. She did it but in the past I've NEVER had to ask someone so many times to put extra cheese on it? It was like she was doing me a Damn favor by putting more cheese on the pizza!?! Bottom line is the price to Build your own is at a point now where it is just better to get a large Supreme or ANY large pizza with multiple toppings on it from Papa John's... Pizza Hut...or Domino's for 9.99 and it is a much better value than what you get at Blaze. Do you really want to spend over $9 for a small pizza when you can get a large with everything on it for $1 more? And if you get a pizza from them that is NOT build your own that comes with 1 or 2 toppings on it that makes the price for the pizza even worse! They got greedy and just...
Read moreI came here for the first time today and while the pizza is good, the process for actually getting it is a pain in the neck. I don’t know if it’s the system they have that’s flawed or the employees. The system they have of putting names down on the paper works in theory but I can see it’s easy to lose track of who ordered what. I waited for over 30 minutes for my pizza while the customers before and after me received theirs and some had multiple orders. I was fully prepared to ask for a refund and when I told the girl at the register that my pizza must have gotten mixed up, she immediately pulled a pizza from the pick up counter, showed it to me and asked if it was mine. I said yes and went about my way. What happened? The order paper that they associate these pizzas with had the wrong name on it. It was the name of the guy who was two people ahead of me. I never once heard my name called so I have no idea what happened to my sheet. You can see how that could mess up the flow of order because I now have the sheet to another guys order with my pizza and he or someone else’s order will now be lost in the pile of confusion that are these order papers. And by the time I actually got my food, it was cold because it sat on the counter...I did get a free small drink though. Overall the quality is okay, food and what not, but the expediting system needs some work. And just a quick note, this place is great if you’re grabbing a bite with friends and just want to chill but if you’re coming here on your lunch hour, it may be best to order ahead. They do have an app (doesn’t have stellar reviews) but it may be your best option if you don’t have time to stand around and potentially wait for...
