Lots of variety in this store, but they're pricey, and customer service is inconsistent. I'm a disabled veteran with mobility and internal issues. The staff was helpful on some past visits, but not tonight. No greeting when I entered. I was picking out ~$100 worth of merchandise to buy, but couldn't see or reach items on the bottom shelf without a struggle on my cane. Someone brushed by me but didn't ask if I needed help. Suddenly I got terrible, painful cramps in my guts (IBS, service-connected). I knew if I didn't find a toilet in a hurry, I would soil myself. I put my purchase irems back on the shelf, and headed for the back of the store. An employee was helping customers there, but I could not get his attention. Then I caned my way to the register, politely told them I had IBS, begged to use their rest room. They said "We don't have one. Go to Starbucks, two doors down." I knew that was untrue, but lacking time to search for the restroom myself, I went to Starbucks. Barely got there in time. Afterwards, I purchased something from Starbucks out of gratitude to them. Back to Hobby Express. I told them that I would have bought something from them, too, if they hadn't...
Read moreI have been patronizing this Hobby Express in Cranberry Twp., Pa. since it opened. I have bought many trains , acessories, and RC planes from them & always had a pleasent experience with them until Saturday 6-10-22 around 6pm. I asked at the check out counter if I could get some help getting traction tires for a Lionel engine. I already had the part number, engine number, model number and an old traction tire to match up. A very nice gentelman with a bushy beard said he would have to find the traction tire box and off he went (I have bought many traction tires there before). Meanwhile, while I was waiting a young punk cashier looked me square in the face and told me "We don't have any train experts here and we can't help you". I'm not a confrontational guy (I would of liked to punch him right in his smart aleke face). There were other customers there, so I told him "good to know" (I knew he was lieing), I'll have to find another place and I left fuming. It's a 30 mile round trip to that store and now I feel not wanted there. This 67 year old Navy Vet will never go back as long as that disrespectful young...
Read moreI have been into RC Airplanes for about 2 years now. I have been to many Hobby Shops and have never had an experience as I have had at Hobby Express in Cranberry Twp Pa. All of the Employees there have been Super nice to me and have always helped me with all my needs. Harry the owner always takes care of any issues I may encounter. Harrys 2 daughters who work in his shop are super polite and very knowledgeable with the products sold in the shop. If I ever get a plane that is defective from the manufacturer Harry always takes care of it. The guys in the back (Sean and Jeff) are very good at repairs...set up and general knowledge of all aspects of the rc world. I call the shop with any questions( even the stupidest) and they are always willing to help. I don't know why anyone in the Pittsburgh area would go anywhere else for their RC needs. Its one stop RC shopping at its finest...............Keep up the great work...
