I always rank stores by the associates and if the products they sell are bad enough then they earn a spot although be it a negative one. For the purpose.of if you go to a local market then you already have a pretty good idea of what brands your looking for and quality is and should be followed as set by the F.D.A. So martins has store standards that are taught and usually held. And this store had no issues that I saw on this visit. Colors were tempt as per codes and thats always eye catching to me from previous job experience. The layout was typical for any martins and clear of clutter and trash. To my point, finally. The associates I ran into by ran into are the few i asked for help. Top notch in my book. They stopped what they were doing and small talk while walking me to the items I was looking for was an added bonus. So overall I give it a solid 5 star. I never go to this martins only because of its location, but on this trip I had no choice. Cumberland to me in general is just a pain in the you know what. Of course I had a train while crossing the tracks to get to that side of town? But im impatient and drove to the overpass and went over the train that was just sitting still and blocking every single road that went across the cursed tracks. So if in the same situation its mechanic street, or center depending on direction as both are one way. Then hop on Frederick to go over them. Best...
Read morePrices are horrendously high compared to Walmart, Aldi and Save-A-Lot. Their donuts are terrible from their bakery section, the lights are too hot in the case, the chocolate icing just melts off the donuts and makes a mess. I suspect the only reason this store gets away with the outrageous prices they do is because its an economically depressed area and many people necessarily rely on SNAP to feed their families... also the Walmart and Aldi are further away in the nearby town which is out of the way for a lot people.
Just for comparison a gallon of their storebrand milk is 1.99, its 1.25 at Walmart. Their store brand pint of sour cream is like 3 dollars, its 89 cents at Aldi.
Edit for 2022: Also it would be nice if the people who work in the meat department could learn how to properly seal a package. Half the time I buy a chuck roast, or any other kind of larger cut of meat 2 pounds or greater theres a 50/50 chance the package will leak in my fridge. Seriously, since you charge more than everyone else in the area, maybe master the art of using the packaging machine you have in the...
Read moreI’ve been to Martin’s grocery store multiple times, but after my most recent visit, I won’t be returning. The store was a mess – aisles were cluttered with products out of place, and it felt impossible to find anything. Many of the shelves were half-empty, and the produce section was a disaster. The fruits and vegetables were either bruised or wilted, and some looked like they should’ve been thrown out days ago.
To make matters worse, the staff was unhelpful and seemed more interested in chatting with each other than assisting customers. When I asked for help finding an item, the employee just shrugged and walked away. The prices are ridiculous for what you get—everything is overpriced! You’re paying way more than it’s worth for mediocre quality. On top of all this, the checkout lines were absurdly long, with only a couple of registers open. It’s clear that management doesn’t care about keeping the store in good shape or providing decent customer service. I’m taking my...
