The Colorado Veterans Monument is the main component of Lincoln Veterans Memorial Park. This space, between Broadway and Lincoln Street, separates the State Capitol grounds from Denver’s Civic Center Park.
The Veterans Monument is an obelisk designed by Robert Root and Richard Farley. It was dedicated on Veterans Day, November 11th, 1990. It rises 30 feet and is built from Lyons red sandstone. There is a beacon at the top. Five brass plaques show the emblem of each branch of the armed forces.
The Fallen Heroes Memorial is intended as a complement to the Monument obelisk. It was dedicated on November 6, 2021 and was designed by Rosenman Associates Architects in consultation with the Monument designers.
The Memorial honors the Coloradans killed during World War I, World War Ii, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
