A little history here before I begin my review. I was assigned to Denver M.E.P.S. (Military Entrance Processing Station) till 2006 when I retired from service. During my time in Denver till 2019 when I moved to Minnesota saw Downtown Denver change for the better in some ways and worse in others. With that said.
Civic Center Station is huge with a few stores in it and at one time had a driver license office as well. In the 2000s the driver license office was closed by the state. The station as a whole is clean, bathrooms are decent, and bus tickets are easy to buy. During rush hour traffic is crazy with crowds of people waiting for their buses leaving the station.
Unfortunately, when Colorado legalize marijuana is when the station went downhill with crime and homeless taking over the station. One didn't feel safe inside the station waiting for buses. In 2018 Denver remodeled the station and the 16th Street Mall and finished in 2024. From my understanding from friends still living in Denver that things are getting better, but your mileage my vary here if you still live in Denver. Free Mall Ride available every 5 minutes to travel Streets between union station and civic center Park / state capitol.
Public restrooms are available inside the station.
Wheelchair accessible to all places. Different gates for different routes.
In winter really difficult to wait outside in the bay and bus will come and go within seconds.
Prime location all in walking distance.
Cleanliness is not up to the mark. But not bad.
