As a Vietnamese, I have had my fair share of Phos going back to the source, and in my opinion the food here is not good, first off the Spring Rolls were horrible because of the sauce, instead of the tradition peanut dipping sauce, they use fish sauce instead, really ruined the taste, normal Spring Rolls shouldn't be dip in fish sauce, it's not fried. I admit it could've been just my taste, but I wouldn't prefer fish sauce over the peanut ones. Next, I ordered the Special Rice dish and it the Shrimps were horrible, they tastes like they were over smoked, plus they were cold too, which shouldn't be if they were just made, which make me think that the dish were microwaves and served, terrible if it was true, the meats taste not as good as they should be, especially the pork, I know the red look nice and all, but it doesn't make the meat taste better, they were bland.
All in all if you're looking for authentic Vietnamese foods I wouldn't recommend this place because the foods really had been "tone down" a lot to suit the taste of the native American (less salty, etc,...), I gave the review 2-stars because the servers were really nice and constantly checking on us to make sure that were doing good and I make sure to...
Read moreI must have walked or driven by this place 200 times over the past few years, and always thought I should stop in. Never had, until the other day; boy, am I glad I finally did!
Let's cut to the chase: the location is weird. Right by Civic Center Park, the Capital, the Courts, East Colfax, all that. Always sketchy people being sketchy outside, some weird dude yelling about something, etc. Move past that, and you're fine.
The inside blew me away! It was quiet, super clean, nicely decorated, and much larger than I imagined it to be from the outside.
The staff was very polite, friendly, and provided good service.
The BBQ spring rolls were tasty, with a lovely crunch and a sweet dipping sauce. Sauce is pretty watery, something a bit thicker would have been nice.
The pho was delicious! Hot, flavorful, with big chunks of meat and noodles. They presented it with raw meat on top, ready to be pushed into the hot broth to cook up. I loved the presentation.
The price is a little bit higher than usual for pho places, by ~$1.50. But for the convenience of not driving all the way to South Federal and back to City Park, that was well worth it.
Glad there is a great pho place nearby. ...
Read moreThis little cute modern and clean Vietnamese place was so different from any Vietnamese restaurant we’ve been to, that after visiting it we couldn’t believe it’s the same cuisine. With all disappointments we’ve had with Vietnamese restaurants for the past 10 years on the East coast we already gave up the hope to find really tasty Summer rolls or at least somewhat clean Pho restaurant with good quality and fresh herbs Pho. But here These Guys serve you the tastiest and healthiest Vietnamese food we’ve ever tried. They do it with the smile and nice attentive service. Summer rolls filled up with lots of herbs and yummiest meats instead of vermicelli like in others places. The meats in Pho are so tender and flavorful (as well as the broth) and proportions of ingredients are just perfect. And you can finally smell the aroma of cinnamon in it. Don’t skip on beverages, they are very refreshing and tasty too. So if you like yummy Vietnamese in clean and nice atmosphere with better value than those dirty places on S Federal Blvd go strait to Pho-na-tic and fill your cravings without wondering if you are going to get sick afterwards. Thank you Pho-na-tic for a...
