traveling in from new mexico , the week of christmas , i thought it would be a great experience to learn more about denver through the lights and sight bus tour . i drove in straight from new mexico to denver , mind you over an 11 hour drive ⦠there was an email sent out 2 hours prior regarding where to meet and park for the tour . there was two crashes on the highway , on the way to denver with slowed us down significantly . not being from denver , the directions/addresses were not clear , along with us not being familiar with our surroundings in downtown denver . i had called the tour guide to get further assistance for directions , as instructed on the email , and her response was āiām your bus driver , not your tour guideā . i asked for help with directions to the parking garage , as google maps took us elsewhere and the response i received was āwell i donāt know where you are , thereās not much i can do for youā . jill , the bus driver was very rude and obviously did not care to help out . i was informed by her that we needed to contact our tour guide , instead of her but the number listed on the email was jillās . we did not get to attend the event , and what was supposed to be a eventful night in the city turned into a nightmare.
staff interactions were very rude , and i will NEVER book with denver holiday lights and sights bus tours , nor recommend them to anyone else . this was an AWEFUL experience . first impressions matter and this one will leave a lasting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't usually leave Google reviews for my experiences, but I had to give this one a shout-out. I was on my second-ever visit to Denver and wanted to do some walking tours. I found this one via a Google search and signed up about two months in advance (I was not happy about the $2 fee for doing so, and an additional fee on top of that fee as well, but there was no other choice). I got helpful, detailed, and timely communication before the tour about the starting point, the guide's name, and how to prepare. Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by Janine and was surprised to see a fairly large group for a Monday. For the next hour and a half, I was informed, entertained, and engaged. I had done my own exploration on the previous visit, but it was so helpful to have explanation, narration, and contextualization for the places where we walked. Janine is a Denver local and native, and her local pride was definitely reflected in her enthusiasm and energy; she also spoke loudly and clearly (probably not even needing the portable amplifier, but that was still a nice touch for such a large group) as she related history, art, and entertaining stories. I was very glad I signed up for this experience as a part of my visit to Denver and would recommend this to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIs there anything about Denver that Janine (soft J - as in the French pronunciation of Jacques) does not know about her city. A graduate of Metro - some foreign travels under her belt - she spins the stories of this cityās movers-and-shakers - men (R. Speers, Fisher, Crawford, Larimer) and women (H. Bonfils, E Caulkins, D. Crawford) to name a few - the structures, parks and gardens - all are sparkling by the time Jeanine has finished telling the tales. Sheās open to wider questions, too - about the infamous massacre in the south-east of the state at Ludlow a century or more ago (see poet David Masonās award-winning verse novel) - or about where one might find a Post Office ⦠and so forth. Despite the cold weather (we are from Australia - travelling in North America - but just yesterday leaving behind a week in south-west Florida) - our hearts and minds were quickened and warmed by Janineās positive enthusiasm and energy - an unofficial ambassador. She represents Denver and Colorado in the very best of ways. We will never forget our visit here.
