It goes without saying that the burgers are delicious! While I especially love their classic burger with chipotle mayo, the black bean burger is my favorite healthier option.
This local favorite has a reputation for not only a superb burger and fries, but for their support of the community & of sustainable farming as well as their use of only 100% grass fed beef & non-GMO products. But it’s not just the healthy options on the menu that make me loyal to this place; it’s the delicious food, historic charming atmosphere/location, friendly service, and the hardworking, passionate local owners.
Let’s face it, you don’t usually go out for a burger to enjoy the restaurant atmosphere, but this place has it all. The interior of the restaurant is filled with historic touches and charm. The exterior is unique in its appearance as well as its location; The outdoor patio, with its unassuming atmosphere, is nestled in the far back rear of the Main St. parking lot but it’s this that adds to its Durango charm. Who wouldn’t want to dine outdoors on a beautiful sunny day with the crisp mountain breeze blowing, Its Durango! It’s nice to be able to enjoy an outdoor delicious burger on Main St. without crowding onto the sidewalk seating which is common in many of the restaurants on the block.
I’ve enjoyed their burgers many times and I can’t say enough about the quality of the food. It’s no wonder you find Grassburger at most Durango events and it’s not unusual to find the owners working the food trucks or handing out free burgers on occasion. They are confident that on first try, you will love it! Don’t hesitate to approach them for comments or questions; As part of this community, they couldn’t be more friendly and accommodating.
Grassburger is a local staple! If you are taking a stroll down Main Street, don’t blink or you might miss this awesome Durango burger venue nestled in its quaint location behind the cars. You won’t be disappointed. This is not your...
Read moreBe careful ordering from this place, as metal pieces from their cookware might end up in your burger. My grassburger came with a small metal chip from the spatula they used, luckily I didn't swallow it or I could've had a big problem. The worst part is the customer service was so terrible I didn't even get an apology. They just remade the burger (I didn't want or ask for another one) and left back behind the counter. And this is all after getting my initial order wrong as well. I asked for 3 burgers, one of which without tomatoes, and instead got 4, one without tomatoes. Order here at your own risk, as the service is astoundingly bad. There's plenty of better places to eat in Durango, don't go here. Honestly, one star is quite generous, this place deserves 0 stars.
Edit after the owner's reply: Why? Are you going to refund the order? I sure doubt it. There's literally nothing else you could do for me. I'm not looking for any coupons or free meals as I'm definitely never returning the place where they put a piece of sharp metal in my burger. And frankly, an apology a whole day after the fact is pretty worthless as well. I just want anybody planning on eating here to know they could be saving themselves thousands in medical bills and a trip to the hospital if they just eat somewhere else, preferably somewhere where the employees are properly trained and the cookware/utensils are properly taken care of and managed. These things don't just accidentally happen; quality and well maintained spatulas don't just shatter and chip so easily that you don't notice. This is a clear sign of a lack of management and maintenance in the kitchen. I dread wondering what else goes...
Read moreMade a super bad choice to eat here tonight. We liked the name of the place and expected the food and vibe to keep pace with the name but it fell short in all categories. The pathetic person at the register was rude, bored, condescending and discriminating. She went out of her way to belittle me as I was trying to customize my order. My husband had a similar experience with her. And that was our first impression. We should've walked away at this point as the whole transaction went downhill from there. There was at least 6 people behind the counter actively engaged in their own personal drama with no regard for the customers. With that many staff on hand, everything should have been superb so the failure that followed speaks volumes to the low quality employees who are taking money from the owner and giving nothing in return. We waited a long time for our burgers which were overcooked and average at best. None of what I asked for in my 'custom' burger was delivered. The peopled who pretended to clean the tables were disinterested, disgruntled and lazy. There was no ice in the fountain machine and no one cared. We saw several other people ask about ice and nothing was done about it. Just a really horrible experience for people who came to Durango to have a good time. We certainly could have spent our money somewhere else and recommend you don't make the same mistake we did. Note to Management - get a handle on your employees. They make...
