We had the absolute worst experience at Fired Up Pizzeria! We traveled from Texas to try out this place as it was recommended by family. It was just my husband and I eating at this place. It was a Friday night, we understood that we had to be placed on a waitlist. We waited an hour and a half, but we didn’t get seated. Mind you, we were the only brown colored people in restaurant that many individuals including restaurant staffing were just staring at us like we were at the zoo. There were other couples who just walked in who were getting seated who were not on a waitlist because the couples were asking the host if there was a waitlist, in which she stated no and directed them to a table. I spoke to the hostess and she kept telling my husband and I “it will be 5 minutes.” The 5 minutes turned into an hour and half of waiting for a table where many other white couples were getting seated before us. For the majority of the time being there, there was a 4 person table open. There was even a white family of 6 who were seated before us without being on the waitlist. After an hour and half of waiting, we got off the waitlist and left. We come back the next day and it was another horrible experience. We waited at the hostess desk for about 20 minutes while staff in the back kept looking at us. After the wait and getting looks from the staff, we just seated ourselves. As soon as we seated ourselves, the hostess all of a sudden came back to her stand. We notified her we just sat down because we waited for a while and she said that it was fine and a waiter will be with us. We then went another 20 minutes without having a waiter to take our drink or food order. We were at a regular table getting the bartender as a waiter. There were other people around us at a similar table getting an actual waitress. No doubt we assumed that no one wanted to serve us because once again we were the only brown colored ones in the restaurant. The food was decent, but super dry. My husband and I have been to many restaurants around the Durango area and in many different states; We have never had a service like this. We were both absolutely shocked, disappointed, and disgusted with Fired...
Read moreI have ate at many pizza. From local places in Ruidoso at cafe Rio. To Lou malnati's in Phoenix. This place hands down has the best pizza new mexico.
It was an hour and forty-five minute wait time. But was well worth the wait.
The order:
2 pepperoni pizzas 1 lemon zacula (or racula) 1 mozzarella and jalapeno dip 1 flowerless chocolate cake
Verdict:
Pep pizza was great. Sauce is very well made. And I think their pep is made in house or bought somewhere authentic. It was salty but blended will with the cheese, basil, and sauce.
The lemon zacula (racula) was the show stealer. I never squeezed lemon juice on a pizza, this blended perfectly with the arugula and long cut parmesan or asiago.
these pizzas were made so well, but I did not have to add chili flakes, Parmesan or ask for ranch .
Mozzarella dip was great. In house made bread with olive oil and oregano/dried basil/Italian herbs. (Again, I'm not sure)
Flowerless cake was also great. I'm not a chocolate fan but this cake was amazing. It tasted like a Hersey's chocolate bar that was 4 bars thick but soft like a brownie. It also had a milk like drizzle in top.
I wasn't able to give a full 5 for service but it was because they were very busy so I had to place food order with drink order as well so bypass the wait. So if busy I would recommend this so that you...
Read moreWow- it's not often that I write reviews. So this weekend my wife and I journeyed up to Durango for an overnight tent camping trip. We thought take out pizza would be a score for dinner. We ordered up two pizzas from Fired Up Pizzeria. First, picking up the order was a mission- it was 'downtown' Durango on a Saturday evening (early) & parking is insane, don't you know. So we parked down at the post office and I ran up to get the pizzas. Went in to Fired Up and I felt somewhat ignored- I actually saw the to go orders in the back by the pizza oven and went over to pick it up myself. (the place wasn't even busy, almost empty...) I got back to the truck and handed the pizza boxes to my wife. She asked, "are these boxes empty." I too thought the boxes were light- in weight. She opened the box and let me just say that the pizzas at Fired Up don't have much to them- perhaps there is a name change in order- from Fired Up to Flight Up Pizzeria. These things are pretty sorry if you have an appitite. So off we went up Junction Creek Canyon to set camp and enjoy these pizzas. Fifteen minutes later we sat down to give this pizza a try- well I would rate this pizza a 57 on a scale of 100. Light on the sauce and the crust on both pies was blackened on the bottom and top. Truly disappointing. Won't be going back...
