Tried to call on Wednesday evening 12/13/23 to find out more information about their car key and FOB services after being referred by a friend and another ACE location.
Phone was answered by a woman employee and I began to describe what I was calling for - car key service and FOB service. Before I could finish my sentence, the woman cut me off and said they couldn't do it because they "were closing soon." I explained that I wasn't looking to come in today at all, but rather to see if I could or needed to make an appointment or something. The woman then snapped at me and said "I don't know, he only knows his schedule. Call back tomorrow," not answering my question at all. I then said again "OK, well do you know if he takes appointments?" to which she snapped again and told me to call back tomorrow. I then thanked her and told her goodbye, to which she scoffed and said good bye in a very sarcastic and pointed manner.
I called trying to support this business versus paying a dealership and after seeing an ad, but due to the rude customer service I will just go to the car dealership. I work and manage in the customer service retail industry, but if you cannot have a pleasant attitude towards someone looking to spend money at your business and just find out information, don't answer the phone or get a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve had excellent service at this Ace hardware in the past from individuals who knew hardware and had the ability to listen to the customersā description of a problem and come up with practical solutions. Those āMacGyverā types are the jewels in any hardware storeās crown ā and the reason why we love small town hardware stores and keep going back.
But the woman who opened the store yesterday on Saturday was dour and rude. I made no comment ā I just observed her self-sabotaging behavior, quietly paid, and left... and did the rest of my shopping that day at Loweās.
Not everyoneās a MacGyver ā but at least try ā or, at minimum, find a way to be useful and charming enough to not be a net drain on the operation.
I felt sorry, too, for the young lad she was browbeating ā just another observation. But heāll learn in time that there are better working environments to be had. Great people understand teamwork and thatās what makes any job great. Just hoping the great ones Iāve encountered in the past at this store havenāt voted with their feet and left.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreCopy from another review since itās related: Just had the worst experience. Looking for a specific item online, the website showed this store (Cedar Plaza, Mountlake Terrace) has in stock. So I went here, turns out they donāt have that particular item even thought the website showed in stock. Ok fine, no big deal. The worker gladly called their Edmonds store for me and said they have what Iām looking for. I asked him to double check if it was the specific version I needed and he said yes they will hold it for you. Ok, so I drive over to the Edmonds store, wasting another 20 minutes. And what do I find there? They got it all wrong and they donāt actually have the item. The lady was completely oblivious to the different item numbers that she clearly mistyped when the other store called them. Thanks for nothing. They couldāve at least apologized and offered me the other larger sized bag of what I needed at the price of the smaller bag, but nope....
