I used to come in here for cast iron pans and old tools—vices, etc. A couple weeks ago my mom was in town, and I thought there might be something here she would like, and I had a strange experience. I put my wallet down to pick up something delicate, and noticed the shopkeeper tidying around the area. I’ve worked in stores / near old town and completely understand the need to keep an eye on shoppers. I then left the store without my wallet, and wasn’t halfway down the block before realizing and turning back. It only had $15 cash, which was taken. The shopkeeper claimed that someone had just brought it up and she thought it must be mine after checking the ID, and she just had just seen me leave and maybe all of that is true. My mom didn’t want anything from there, any I didn’t need anything, and maybe it’s rude to go into a store without buying something. I definitely have the strange feeling though that the shopkeeper saw me put my wallet down and picked it up before I had actually left the store… just an odd feeling. I’ll be replacing my cards in case that info was taken down. I definitely wonder about how some of the indigenous-looking basketry, snowshoes, etc. in the store...
Read moreVisiting Old Town Antiques is always an interesting experience. It's cluttered, unorganized, dusty, smells kind of musty & stuffed to the rafters. Not all things on display in this place are for sale. Plenty is not. Many items are not priced or are over priced. There is stuff in this shop that has been sitting in the same spot for years but that doesn't stop new stuff from coming in.
There is a variety of new, old, vintage, collectibles & misc. The paths around cabinets, shelving units, racks, tables, furniture & piles are narrow. Often times you can't get to some areas of the store for a good look at certain merchandise. You never know what is going to catch your eye or what your going to stumble across. I'm sure there is something for everyone in this shop. The challenge is uncovering it or finding it.
If you don't mind going on a scavenger hunt. If you like to root & dig around. If you in the mood to sort through bins, boxes, stacks & piles for a treasure. If you're into the hunt or a pickers adventure, this place was created for you. I'm always surprised by what I manage to discover or uncover in Old...
Read moreI went there yesterday June 29th and pulled two items that Vicki ( the shop worker ) was supposed to give me a price on my phone at 5 pm when the owner came in. I didn’t hear from her so I followed up today June 30th and she said they have already sold one of the items I had on hold. She gave me a price for the second item and I asked if I could give her my card over the phone. She told me “we don’t do that”. The attitude from her is partially the reason for the review. As a customer I did everything I was supposed to do. As a business owner their attitude towards someone who was only trying to do business with them was appalling. Vicki on the phone was acting like I did something wrong, she stated I should have called sooner , I called at 1pm. They opened at 11am. She was rude , condescending which was crazy from someone who didn’t bother to do her job and call me as promised. If you like being treated like you don’t matter, your money or business doesn’t matter, you don’t matter , this is the...
