Arrived here on the Amtrak, station seems nice and quiet. Outside area was pleasant, there was a few people who approached us asking for different things. One wanted money and another wanted smokes. There was security present and I did see security asked one smoker to leave the area as it was a smoke free area. Has a subway restaurant in the station and several other places to eat in the area. Seen a hotel near by the station. We didn’t venture out as our next train connection was an hour from departure. Would come back and sight see the area when I have more time. Beware of how Amtrak boards their trains here. If you are traveling southbound towards San Antonio the Amtrak was on track 2 down away from the track 3 boarding platform. Which is a good walk down from the platform if you’re dragging bags or it’s raining. It’s a bit confusing if you have never boarded their trains here before. If you’re going northbound/eastbound towards Chicago then board at track 3 at the boarding platform. Was a bit confusing for all of us standing on the platform as I asked couple of people and none of us were real sure where we needed to be. One guy heard last call to board and he was standing with us. His train was the one way down on track 2 and he started running while dragging two bags with him. By the time he got there the train had completed its boarding and was waiting on him to get to it. I didn’t get any pictures of the area of where southbound train parks but it’s about 3 or 4 train lengths behind the train you see approaching track 3 platform in my...
Read moreSo let me just thought about saying that the train ride was amazing. They did not check out tickets so I felt like I wasted my money buying it. FYI to be honest if you buy one ticket and share it you might can get away with it. I gave them a three because of the employee manager that was on board. Not only was he rude and inconsiderate, when it was time for us to get off he did not open the door but almost closed it on me and made us miss our stop. His name was Andy and then had the audacity to argue with us telling us that since no one was getting off the stop it was no point to stop. It was not just only me but other passengers as well. What he did was dropped us off at another stop we had no clue what we were and told us to find our way back to our original spot. Then the train left. I was so angry that I ended up giving him a few words. The kicker was he had to turn back around and pick us back up to drop us off at our original location but let's just say he did not say a word to us. Neither did he apologize. Because I was in another state and that was my first time on the train I did not act up too bad. He really made my first time on the...
Read moreI wish there was more public transportation in Texas like TEXRail which services Tarrant county and TRE which has services between Fort Worth and Dallas. Their trains are clean and well-maintained. And they are very much on time (during the times I used them).
The Fort Worth Central Station is your stop for Sundance Square, Bass Performance Hall, and others which are a 5-10 minute walk. Use the North Station Station if you are going to the Stockyards (and then use Bus 15).
It can be a bit confusing where the TEXRail stop is but it is at the end of the first platform where it is elevated.
The other platforms are for TRE.
I normally use the GoPass app for getting tickets. As of October 2023, the Trinity Metro Day Pass is $6 for the local day pass (and half that for children, disabled, and seniors). There are other options like AM, Midday, and PM passes which are cheaper. But they allow for all the local Trinity Metro transportation including TRE (but only to CentrePoint) otherwise you need regional tickets going beyond Tarrant County.
And for November 2023, it is free local rides for Trinity Metro within Tarrant County to celebrate its 40th...
