Lounge and cigar selection are fantastic; no complaint there.
Service, cocktails, and management very subpar and borderline discriminatory. Went in with two friends and we each ordered a drink and cigar. I ordered a Mezcal Oaxaca Old Fashioned, $23 Mezcal. Came out with so much simple syrup and sweetener that the mezcal was completely overpowered. I paid $23 for sugar. Went to straight whisky for my second. Main complaint: their arbitrary and biased application of automatic gratuity. In Texas, bars/restaurants have to announce, BEFORE ordering, that a service fee will be applied. Typically, you see on a menu "Parties of six or more will be charged a fee"...etc. There is NO visible notice anywhere. So, my friends and I, on a rare hangout, were there to spend some money and enjoy a cigar and drink without work/kids/etc. We all have worked in service for years, and always take care of our servers. When he swiped checks came out, I saw "+ additional tip"...What do you mean additional? I did not initially get the itemized, as I just handed my card and asked to tab out. I saw that and auto-grat of 20% was added. I looked through the menu, door, bar, etc; no sign stating an auto-grat. My first reaction was "well, if she is going to auto-grat me, then she is getting less. I would have left another $7-10 had I not been gratted." I asked the table next to me, as they had their tabs; they were NOT auto-grated, and there were more of them. Why were we auto grated? Because we were younger? More ethnic? I did call, and was given two separate reasons as to why there was an auto-grat: 1) It is the server's discretion or 2) we always auto-grat non-members. Well, the table next to us were also not members; they were from out-of-town there to watch the game. The second person I spoke with said they do have a sign...but it is hidden behind their liquor overstock. The entire attitude speaking with me was "listen buddy, I do not care, this is how it is, if you don't like it, don't come back." He also told me "if you don't like it, dispute the charge with the credit card company."
Wow.
I will not be back.
And this seems to be on on-going issue; review from a week ago also annoyed by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came into town for the weekend for a buddies birthday. All of us are in the cigar industry in some way shape or form. We walked in with cigars. Sat our cigars down and some of us walked to the bathroom others walked to the bar. The humidor manager walked over and condescendingly informed us that they didnāt allow outside cigars and that we would need to purchase cigars from the shop. Cigar etiquette includes bringing cigars but also intentionally purchasing cigars from every establishment that you go to smoke. We spent $90+ in the humidor (and could have spent more) spent another $300 on drinks. In the humidor we were told to create a tab, throw all of our sticks on it and that it could be split up later. We were fine with that. At the end of several hours we asked to split up our tabs and were told that we could only split it 4 ways because (she had already asked us.) wait staff was great when it came to bringing drinks but at the end of the day gave us a hard time about itemizing our tabs a refused to do anything but split it 4 ways. I had heard nothing but wonderful things about this establishment for over 3 years and when we finally made it here; to be treated with such a disparity of customer service and management.
Edit: after we closed our tabs (some tipped some didnāt) our waitress cam out and argued with us for 10 minutes about our experience. The manager shouldāve been concerned with our experience and addressed any needed changes.
Dissatisfied and disappointed. We will not...
