Galveston's first distillery did not disappoint.
I did a flight of their three main spirits. The Texas Tail Vodka is very clean, crisp and ready to drink. The Coastline Whiskey is very drinkable straight. The Southern Marsh Moonshine is surprisingly sweet and flavorful.
The Coastline Whiskey is a 1 yr version of their bourbon that is still aging. I look forward to seeing how it makes in another couple of years.
My wife had the Texas Tail Vodka Mule. It was a very refreshing summer drink. The mint was a nice change that made it more like a mojito but less sweet.
Very comfortable place to have a drink or few. Servers are very friendly and helpful.
Only negative: Their location has extremely limited parking. Seawall parking is available for a fee, if you can find a spot. Side street parking is free for 2 hours. June 2019
The Bloody Marys are very good. Unless you like things real spicy, get the original without Tabasco. Aug 2019
The Old Fashioned Hunter is delicious but it goes down too quickly. I switched to the taller Blackfin Snapper. It was also very good and it lasted longer.
The Vodka Mule has moved to a copper cup so it is now a smaller drink. The Southern Bell Mojito is tall and refreshing and not real sweet. I didn't care much for the Peach Smash. Aug 2019
The Red Flag is a cranberry version of an Old Fashioned. I didn't really care for it, so I'll go back to the regular Old Fashioned next...
Read moreI went with a group of people to Texas Tail Distillery Saturday night for the first time.
They have indoor and outdoor seating, and the patio is a great place to hang out on with small or large groups.
I had the brisket grilled cheese sandwich with fries and their Texas Heat to drink.
I recommend the brisket grilled cheese. It was really flavorful and quite filling. My only minor complaint is that it has too much sauce. I would recommend getting the sauce on the side. The fries were the perfect crispiness and the seasoning they sprinkle on is really good and goes well with the sandwich.
The Texas Heat was something I highly recommend. It was a sweet and savory drink with a spicy kick. I need that recipe.
My only real complaint was the service. Honestly, it seemed fairly unorganized and the drinks took way too long to come out. Additionally , a minor in our group was accidentally given a drink with alcohol.
Since we were there to hang out and eat, the very slow service didn't bother us that much, but it definitely needs improvement.
I will absolutely be returning...
Read moreFun place with lots of cool lighting and natural light through the windows. I did not visit in the evening, so not sure about the "overly bright" comments in some of the other reviews. But in the daytime, this place was awesome. Visited twice. First visit we sat inside and tried a couple of the flight samplers. I didn't know I liked, moonshine, but guess I do as the flavored moonshine may have been my favorite! The eats provided via the food truck out back were solid as well. I had a brisket pita dish (forget what it was called), but it was delicious. Our host, I believe her name was Mallory, was great. It was pretty quiet the day we came in, so we had a chance to interact with her quite a bit. She was great in guiding us through the tasting process and even made a list of a bunch of places for us to eat while in town! A must stop if...
