I have mixed feelings about this place. Prior to purchasing tickets on Groupon, I called to ask if it covered their Halloween event, which starts at 7 p.m. in October. I was told by Michael that it would, and it was no problem. However, when I got there on 10/17/25, I was told I had to pay more money on top of what I had purchased due to the Halloween event. We bought the "3 ride" deal, and you have to get in line every time. So if you waited a half hour to ride, get on the ride, and now the line grew to an hour during the time you stood in line and rode, you now have an hour wait in line for your second ride. The line will grow again to get on ride 3. You could spend hours there trying to get your 3 rides in. I felt they sell this 3 ride deal and hope you don't come back ( you have 14 days to use your 3 ride deal). The ride broke down that Friday night we rode it, for over half an hour. So our half-hour wait became an hour. Rather than being honest about a car getting stuck, they said things like "we are trying to make a smoother exit for the ride", which to me made it sound like you were doing maintenance, and I thought Why would you choose a Friday night with all these people in line to do maintenance? I could have understood that a car gets stuck; it happens. We went back the next evening (Saturday), and the line was easily 2 hours long, so we left. They don't tell you how long the wait is. The line looks reasonable, and it's not. By the time you send a car, you have to wait a long time to send the next person because it's dark outside and you can't see. During the day, they do send the cars a little quicker. We ended up stopping by twice during the day to get in our 3 rides (luckily, our hotel was within walking distance). On the last day we rode, Monday, October 20, the guy operating the ride was just rude (guy with no teeth). He was yelling at people and telling them they were doing things wrong. I think he was trying to show off for his mom. He made an announcement to the other crew members that his mom was on the ride. I do think the ride is fun, I just wish it were better managed. I would recommend buying just one ride and then going to try a different one. We passed several coasters during our 4 days, and I felt like I was stuck riding the same one because I had already paid for it. ** Make sure you read through some of the responses to 1-star reviews. I did this after I wrote this review out of curiosity. If I had read those responses prior to buying a ticket, I would have never visited this place. The way an owner or whoever is in charge of their online presence responds to reviews says A LOT about a company. I'm appalled at some of the things...
Read moreI was only allowed to purchase an all-day pass for $30 instead of a single ticket. The lady at the counter said the only days you can purchase single ride tickets are Fridays and Saturdays, and I tried coming here on a Monday. Makes zero sense. I understand not offering all-day passes on Fridays and Saturdays, but why are you forcing customers to pay for all day passes every other day of the week other than Fridays and Saturdays? This separates them from every other local mountain coaster in a very bad way. I will be riding all of the mountain coasters this week except Moonshine. I just happened to read other reviews with the same complaint, and I just came across a ridiculous reply from the owner that compares buying a single ticket to only being allowed to buy one egg at the grocery store instead of a dozen. What an absolutely idiotic thing to say. So does that mean I can buy just one egg on Fridays and Saturdays? WOW. *Update. This can not be the owner replying to this review. The fact that they keep comparing themselves to a dozen eggs and Dollywood is mind-boggling. You are NOT a comparison to Dollywood. Dollywood doesn't offer just ONE ride. You are ONE ride. I'm not saying the special "offer" you have isn't a good deal, I'm saying that you shouldn't force everyone to only have the option to purchase an all-day pass instead of just one single ticket that is cheaper. It's about providing your customers options. What's crazy about this is I wasn't going to leave a review about this until I read your obnoxious reply to another person because of the opinion they shared. You were trying to make them feel regret for posting a legitimate review with a legitimate complaint by comparing it to a dozen eggs, which is an absolutely ridiculous comparison. I proved your comparison to be invalid when I told you that you're basically telling us we can buy individual eggs on Friday and Saturday. I don't know who you are or if you are truly the owner, but you either need to work on your professionalism, or let someone else reply to your...
Read moreI recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Moonshine Coasters in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, primarily due to the unprofessional behavior of Beth, the manager. As my family was leaving, we were shocked when Beth began yelling at us from the balcony, demanding that a car be moved, even though it did not belong to us. She threatened that the car would be towed if it wasn’t moved immediately. The aggressive and unnecessary way she communicated left us feeling unwelcome.
After being treated so rudely, we decided to request a refund for the second ride we had paid for but no longer wanted to experience. Beth’s attitude was dismissive and unprofessional, and at one point, she told us, “I don’t have to give you a refund.” Her lack of customer service skills and basic courtesy was astonishing.
Beth’s behavior not only ruined our experience, but it also drove away other potential customers. We witnessed families turn around and leave after seeing her yell at us from the balcony. One family even stopped us to say they would not spend their money here and that the way Beth acted was ridiculous. This kind of unprofessionalism is unacceptable, and I strongly urge upper management to reconsider who they have in such a customer-facing position. A manager should represent the business positively, and Beth’s actions are doing the exact opposite. Moonshine Coasters could be a great place to visit, but not with someone like Beth running the show. As Beth, the manager, said herself, she did not care about a bad review or customers leaving.
If I could give zero stars I would!! All bc of BETH...
