This was the absolute worst facial I've ever had. To start out, she did not know her products. When I asked her what product line the spa worked with, she named two lines, and then said she thinks there was a third and that they sell it out front. She couldn't tell me anything about the products as far as what the benefits were or what was put in them.
She did not explain anything she was putting on my face, so I had to ask her. After she finished the first step, I asked her what it was, and she said "oh, the oil?" as if it was a question. She followed by a mask which she didn't tell me anything about. So I asked her what she was applying and she said 'oh this is the mask'. I got the feeling she uses the same mask for everyone and didn't even know what it was. I wanted to know why she picked that particular mask for my face and what the benefits were, and she couldn't tell me. Furthermore, she didn't apply either of the products to my whole face. My nose was not covered with product at all, not even cleanser, and the rest of my face was sporadically covered. I had added on an eye treatment, thinking that I would get some kind of cream or mask of some type. Instead, it was one of those gel pads in a foil wrapper like you get from the cheap aisle at T.J. Maxx. She opened only two, which she put under my eyes, then when I asked about it, she opened another two for the tops. She of course charged me for the second set, $50 for this treatment that did absolutely nothing. So I got nothing put on my eyes in the way of product even though I paid extra for the eye treatment add-on x 2. Lastly, this was supposed to be a hydra steam facial, however the steam machine was placed so far away from my face that I didn't feel it one single bit. My face felt horrible afterwards and I couldn't wait to get home and wash it.
My massage was okay, but For a 90 minute full body treatment, I expect to get the glute muscles done or at least to be asked if I want them done, but they weren't. Still, the rest of the massage was okay.
The kicker that topped off the bad experience was upon checking out, I was not told that gratuity was included in the price. I left a $50 tip, even though I was not happy with the experience, because I do believe in tipping well for the effort. I was super peeved upon leaving when my friend that I was with asked me why I left an extra tip and that's when I found out that it was included. I feel it was very unethical of them not to tell me this.
What a complete waste of...
Read moreWhile on a weekend getaway my boyfriend treated me to a facial. He knows how picky I can be so after reading many reviews on spas in the Gatlinburg area he decided on Fox place. I was absolutely delighted with my time with Robin. She took the time for a consultation before starting in order to ensure I got the the treatment I was looking for. The environment was calm and relaxing but lord knows I am not one to stay quiet for long. I initiated conversation with Robin during my facial and to my surprise she is actually a local with family roots in Gatlinburg and very knowledgeable about the history. She was also, upon my request, very offering of products she sees good results with and to my surprise they were products easily acquired at drugstores, Walmart, target, etc .... just stating the she didn’t try to upsale anything in her shop. She even recommended that for the condition of my skin a facial every 2-3 months would be enough for me. Now, the other place I go recommends “oh, no longer than 3-4 weeks”. I feel like I have found a service provider that cares more about my results and experience rather than how much money they are able to drain out of me lol. She is very professional, knowledgeable about the products she applied to my skin and an absolute asset to the esthetician profession. I get occasional facials but the one I received with Robin has been by far the best. My problem area of concern is my chest more than my face. She took the time to treat my chest area that has sun damage differently than she treated my face and the result is truly amazing. My chest is smoother and now more evenly toned than I have seen it in years. I do have another facial scheduled elsewhere but only because I received a gift certificate. From now on I will be scheduling with Robin despite the hour plus drive. I hope this review helps someone know they are looking in the...
Read moreLet me start by saying this place was absolutely amazing in every way!
This was the first time I had been in Gatlinburg and I wanted to book a spa day for me and my fiance. After a little bit of research I decided to book a couples massage and facial at Fox Place. The moment we arrived we were warmly greeted by the staff. The place quaint with lovely decor which made for a very personalized experience. Zach was the masseuse and Katie did the facials.
I have had many spa treatments over the years but this was by far the best experience I've ever had. I asked for deep pressure for my massage and Zach really made the effort. The massage was very personalized and I could feel him finding my trouble spots and working through them expertly. The massage was direct skin to skin contact, not massaging on top of a thin sheet as others have claimed. The only place that was massaged using a thin sheet was near the glute area but it did not take anything away from the overall experience. Katie delivered an amazing facial that seemed to effortlessly remove all the pore buildup I had. They products smelled fantastic and worked really well with my sensitive skin. Before she would touch my face she would touch my shoulders so as to not startle me. It was a small detail but made all the difference.
I was overwhelmed with the service and professionalism of staff. We left there feeling refreshed and new. I HIGHLY recommend Fox Place anytime you're in Gatlinburg for all your spa needs.
