Is there anyway to give a lower rating than one star?? 🤔 if it was possible this owner has earned it honest! Talk about a man that thinks he is above everyone. Never in my life have I felt so disrespected by someone. My husband, son and myself walked into this store and from the moment we walked in he started... he asked that bags he held and move to the front of your body.. ok I have my purse more than under control. But, I did move it more forward out of respect.. I couldn't even make it down one aisle without the owner following us and harassing me about the size of the aisle and that he thought I was going to break something... he continued to tell me that a lady broke something that was 1000$ in there yesterday...Well, what did you want me to do put the bag around my neck and let you guide me around like a dog? Are is the problem that you thought that I was below you, didn't have money to be in your store or maybe you felt I was to big for your little store? Idk which is the issue.. however, I have plenty of money and was being nothing but respectful of everything in your store... I CANT TELL YOU ONE THING THAT WAS IN THE STORE TO DUE HIS HARASSING BEHAVIOR. We love the smokey mountains. However, Mr. Morton is a down right embarrassed to the area with his actions and behavior. Not ONE single person should support this business or this man. As by other reviews this is not the 1st he has treated people with disrespect... maybe he needs to remember that it is the people coming into his store that keep him in business... I know I will from this moment on go out of my way to let everyone know what type of business...
Read moreMy husband and I have driven past Morton’s on our way to Gatlinburg the last few years and it always catches our eye, but we haven’t stopped in because it’s closed (after 5pm). Despite all the negative reviews, we made a point to make it there and I’m happy we did honestly.
It was quaint and full of gorgeous pieces - lots of furniture, china, crystal, and chandeliers. You could tell it’s carefully curated so it makes sense that the owners want people to be mindful - especially being in a more touristy area (think of how some people act on vacation). Plus this could’ve been around long before Gatlinburg was so built up and tourist-centered, where the walk-ins may have shifted drastically over the years, causing them to need to be a bit more strict which could come off as rude to some.
The only thing is one man did get a bit curt when my husband said he didn’t think he was going to buy a baseball card, quickly telling us to have a good day where it did feel a bit like ok you’re not going to buy something, please leave but it was the end of the day, he could’ve been ready to go home, had a long day, etc. the point being - don’t take things so personally !!!!!
I had a pleasant time and an enjoyable conversation with the men working and would stop in again, especially if ever in need of a chandelier because the ones in there were an...
Read moreWe are in town visiting with family and I wanted to take my mother in law to some antique shops. The traffic was heavy coming from Pigeon Forge so I stopped at the wrong lot to turn in. When there was an opening I realized it wasn’t a lot and just a single UNMARKED spot between the buildings. My mother in law has a hard time walking long distances so I decided we would just pop in for her to look and move the vehicle once I got her inside. We waited and waited past the open time and they never opened so we decided to go back to the car. As I approached the vehicle a man came up and started raising his voice that it was his parking spot and it was private property. Uhm, sorry. I looked and there is absolutely no signage to that at all. There is a no trespassing sign on a staircase on the next building. So we left. The man immediately whipped his Mercedes into the spot after I moved. Come to find out that was Mr. Morton the owner himself. Rude to potential customers. I’m in the market to find chandeliers for the 1.4 million dollar beach house we are constructing and this man did not earn my business. After coming home I read the reviews and he’s ugly to...
