I recently embarked on a hike that led me to the final resting place of the legendary Doc Holiday, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience that deserves nothing less than a five-star rating! The trail itself was captivating, offering a scenic journey through nature’s beauty. As I made my way along the path, I was surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and awe-inspiring views. The hike provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and appreciate the serenity of the surroundings. Reaching Doc Holiday’s grave was a truly special moment. Standing before the resting place of a historical figure with such a colorful past was both humbling and fascinating. The grave served as a poignant reminder of the legacy left behind by this legendary figure, and it sparked a sense of curiosity and reverence within me. The hike to the grave was well-marked and easily navigable, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. The trail offered a moderate challenge, making it accessible to hikers of various skill levels. It was a rewarding journey that combined physical activity with historical exploration. While the grave itself holds significance, the entire hike provided an immersive experience. The trail allowed me to connect with the natural surroundings and immerse myself in the history and lore associated with Doc Holiday. It was a truly memorable adventure that left a lasting impression. If you have an appreciation for history, nature, and a touch of adventure, I highly recommend embarking on this hike to Doc Holiday’s grave. It offers a unique and enriching experience that combines the beauty of the outdoors with a glimpse into the past. Five stars without a doubt!

There are two trails up. One brings you to the back side and the other to the front. Both trails are an easy 5-10 minute hike. Definitely doable for kids. The space up top is very intriguing and fun to explore and you may be able to catch a lizard (if you're into that sort of thing). The sign says if you hike east "10 miles" you get to Kid Curry's grave but it's really only about 100 yards, someone wrote that in with pencil. If you're the adventurouse type there are tons of mini trails all over the mountain side that are fun to explore. Hiking all the way up or at least farthur up the mountain to the east will give you a breathtaking view of Glenwood Springs and the two rivers. I've hiked up twice to watch the sun set and the city light up. Be aware and prepared if hiking at dusk or nightfall, it is bear and mountain lion country. Nothing to fear, just be aware of your surroundings. You may be more worried about getting poked by some of the sharp trees if you're exploring.

This was early March. The 1/2 mile hike up the mountain to the Linwood Pioneer Cemetery was treacherous - ice, snow and mud - but also a great experience. It's FREE! Along the trail is a tree filled with colorful ribbons (and a shoe or two). It is called Annie's Wishing Tree - prayers and wishes were originally written on the ribbons for a little girl with cancer. Now it has evolved. FYI: It is believed that Doc Holliday was buried in the Potter's Field. No marker, though there is a marker for Kid Curry. The stone for Doc Holliday is just a memorial; he is not buried there.

This was so cool to see. It's just a short hike to the cemetery, but once you get to the top there are so many cool and very old headstones to read and see what the people were like. It was one of my favorite things that we did while in Colorado. Doc Hollidays site in particular had a lot of things that people offered to him in respects! Mostly money like change, but there was a little bag that we were joking was cocaine. Could have been! It was awesome! Highly recommended! It's towards the back of a suburb and pretty easy to find. The hike was very easy!

Great little trail, steep but manageable. Lots to see during the day and ghost tours put on by the Historic Society. Beware as the trailhead is hard to find at night or when lots of cars are parked along the street which is the only parking. The entrance looks like it's in a yard as it's partially fenced in but the sign is right on the corner. The beginning of the trail is sun exposed during the day so wear sunscreen and sunglasses for sure. They have trash cans at the top SO PLEASE CLEAN IP AFTER YOUR PET and don't ruin it for the rest of us.

I really enjoyed visiting this historical site. It is a bit of a hike so prep for that. The trail is nice but made of dirt and gravel and is quite steep too. Also, we went in the middle of summer when it was super hot and sunny and I wished I had brought water and a hat. Nevertheless, it's definitely worth the effort. There are plenty of great views of the city and it's just really cool to see this gravemarker and read about this historical figure. Don't miss out on visiting Kid Curry's grave nearby.
