I have been enjoying performances here for many years. I AM NEVER DISAPPOINTED!! The acting is SUPERB!!! The sets are great. The lighting is excellent. The building itself is lovely. You can enter through the SIDE doors (NOT the glass doors) in order to BYPASS THE STAIRS. PARKING is free. Most parking is located on a parking deck behind the theatre, though some parallel parking is in front of the theatre, and a few handicapped spaces are available on the LEFT SIDE of the building, which is very close to the SIDE DOOR. Through that side door (NOT the glass side door), you enter on a WIDE aisle that is LEVEL with the stage. Sitting on that row, you will have plenty of room for your legs to extend, or even for an electric wheelchair to park. The RESTROOMS are also on this level. You just need to go outside through one of the two side doors, then go ahead to the glass doors. The restrooms are inside on the right side of the room, whereas the ticket window is on the left side. *It's a LOVELY building full of elegant spiral stairs that you NEVER have to use if you'd rather not. *Well planned, I'd say!! On a personal note, I saw my first play here at 13 years of age. It was ANNIE, and she worked with a real, golden lab dog. Max was directing then I think. You might want to look at the well kept SCRAPBOOKS that are near the box office. Note: If you volunteer here, you will be given many perks, such as...
Read moreThis is a small theatre. Some reviewers say there isn't a bad seat in the house. Unfortunately, we disagree. Many seats, and most seats in the first four or five rows, become toxic when the "smoke" machines turn on. To attend a show is to vape. And the toxicity is not reserved for folks with sensitive or compromised airways. The show we attended last night was the season opener. The young actor portraying Joseph, of the technicolor dream coat musical, cracked at least twice. He is a strong singer. Could there be another reason for his voice to get stuck like it did? We think the direct irritants in the smog got to him. A larger, better ventilated space might support all that useless particulate, and protect the performers as well as the audience. Heavens- what did they do before smog machines to produce a great show? Why ruin otherwise good performances? How many potential supporters and patrons can't come back? Add two more to that list. Whatever it is that comes out of those machines and spreads in the air and into our airways, it is a direct irritant. Note to GLT directors: We are waiting for your marketing to include...
Read moreI went to see Newsies as my niece is in it. My first time at the GT. The people working there were wonderful. I'm in a wheelchair and they took such great care of me. Only the first landing is accessible but it's highly accessable. The seats are very comfortable and honestly, there's not a bad seat in the place. Sound and lights were well done and the ushers were awesome. The talent in this show was breathtaking. Only 2 cons for me personally. First, the bathroom is not good for handicapped, be that wheelchair or walker. There's only one stall but the worst is that it's constructed in such a way that people struggled to walk past my chair while I waited in line. Just a horrible, cramped design. Second, the consessions, all sugar. Nothing of any nutritional value, nothing for anyone with diabetes. The concessions issue is minor but annoying. The bathroom issue is almost a...
