Vegetable ramen wask okay. Noodles were good texture. Stock tasted salty and sweet flavored of mirin and soy sauce and green onion. Sprouts were good. Definitely picked up on the fishy flavor another person mention in the reviews. Gyoza was spicy and wrapper was falling apart. Definitely not like great grandma used to make it. Service was way too slow. There was only one person behind the register to serve everyone and take orders. That was not adequate as people were waiting in line at least 15 minutes. Also like others have said even two months ago the girl at the register who was also serving did not acknowledge anyone in line until she went to take an order. If you have never been here you might wonder if you're supposed to go to another area or order through a kiosk you just haven't noticed. The exception this time from two months ago was that there were no technical issues. Also the response from the owner saying the people behind the register were under some sort of duress ad an excuse of why they didn't acknowledge the customers is a weak argument and at best shows a lack of taking responsibility and thereby showing a willingness to do better in the future. If you won't hire enough people for the pace you need a better layout. Serving bar around the cooking area putting it fresh right into the bowls at their seats. Pull the noodles in front of the patrons of the skill is there. People love watching that. Anyhow.. it was okay to try it once if your hungry and have time. Also.. how about clearing those dusty cobwebs

šŸœDelicious (恊恄恗恄!!) Ramen, Onigiri, and Roll CakešŸœ After grabbing a matcha bubble tea at Cosmic Rabbits Tea Company, I had to grab dinner at Menkoi Noodle House—on the near-opposite end of the downtown shopping area, but well worth the walk. I had taken a vacation in Japan a few years back, and the synthetic food displays near the front of Menkoi Noodle House immediately brought my experiences in Tokyo to mind. Menkoi feels authentic, with a variety of noodle bowls ranging from ramen to udon to soba. On a chilly day, nothing beats a cozy-warm bowl of noodles! šŸœShoyu Ramen – My bowl arrived fresh and warm with a variety of tastes and textures for the senses—spinach, nori, pork, egg, green onion, bean sprouts, and, of course, a narutomaki fish cake! šŸ™Salmon Onigiri (Rice Ball) – Tasted just like the ones I enjoyed daily in Tokyo. The salmon felt fresh and tender in the mouth, with soft rice complemented by a velvety-salted seaweed wrap. šŸ“Strawberry Roll Cake – Served on a plate appropriately printed with ā€œDELICIOUSā€ in hiragana, this spongey-soft cake made the perfect sharable dessert after a filling bowl of ramen. Fluffy and creamy with just a touch of sweetness, it cleansed the savory palate and ended the meal on a memorable note. ć”ć”ćć†ć•ć¾!!

My wife and I stopped in here while visiting Greenville as Main Street Friday was winding down. For being downtown (and compared to many other restaurants in the area) the prices were very reasonable. My wife is allergic to almost all seafood, when the ramen was brought out there was a fish cake in it, staff immediately offered to replace it and did so very quickly, when they returned they apologized over and over, even though it was more than likely due to us not paying attention when ordering and not mentioning anything upfront. What could have been a rocky start was quickly turned around and became an amazing experience. The food was outstanding, this was the first time I've ever finished a full bowl of ramen in one sitting - I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and my wife had the chicken ramen, we were both very happy with our decisions. Menkoi offered a large selection of manga to read during your visit and PokƩmon was on the TV while we were there. The atmosphere reads authentic ramen shop, I forgot for a moment that I was downtown and not in Japan. We will definitely be returning to Menkoi on our next visit.

This was my first visit here after spending more than 7 years visiting downtown Greenville. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. I visited this restaurant at 8:50 PM on a Thursday night. Note: the closing hour listed on Google (and confirmed by phone) was 9:30 PM, but the closing hour on the door said 11 PM. When I walked in, I quickly realized this was a menu-written-on-the-wall, counter-service, seat-yourself establishment -- some of my most favorite restaurants are the same :-D!! I ordered the edamame appetizer and tonkotsu ramen, while my friend ordered the gyoza appetizer and beef udon. I was disappointed to learn there was no sake (or any other alcoholic beverages) on the menu. A while after ordering, the staff began stacking chairs on tables - not deterred by the five tables still occupied by dinner-eating patrons. Just as I was starting to get worried, my friend's entree (beef udon) arrived! About 3 mins later I got my entree (tonkotsu ramen). Our appetizers were still nowhere in sight. Approximately 5 minutes after the delivery of our entrees, my friend's gyoza arrived. After several more minutes, as I was about to cancel it altogether, the edamame finally arrived. Somehow, it was both overcooked AND cold at the same time (confused emoji). The tonkotsu ramen did not impress with its 3 thin, leathery pork slivers, broken broth, and noodles that looked (and tasted) like they came straight out of a Styrofoam microwaved Cup-of-Noodles. On the up-ish side, the gyoza was pretty good and the beef udon was ok. Overall, Menkoi Noodle House is an average counter-service restaurant, with ok food options, mediocre food preparation, and little to no...

I have been coming here for a little over 4 years and have absolutely loved it up until my last few visits. Specifically the morning/afternoon shift. It started with just bad service and the time after that it was the food. This time it was ALL OF THE ABOVE. I ordered my usual go to; Spicy ramen, Fried Gyoza and Beef Don to go. Received my Gyoza abnormally fast. I typically always get it after the ramen is served. Gyoza was fine but then it took them almost 20 minutes to bring my Ramen. The presentation was awful the noodles were soggy and tasted like they were Top Ramen instant noodles. The broth tasted like water and there was zero spiciness besides the spice I added myself. When they brought my to go order it was the completely wrong item and when I went up to solve the issue the manager then proceeded to say I need to pay an additional $.50 for the right menu item even though it was HIS FAULT for making the wrong one to begin with. I attempted one last try for them to make it right before I left to address all my complaints but all he has to say were excuses and then proceeds to end the conversation with pulling $.50 out of his pocket and hand it to me.

It makes me sad to change my rating about this place I loved eating here all the time but the service and food is just plain awful. Don't waste your time or money here. It's just not...
