Bergen County Clerk's Office — Attraction in Hackensack

Very bad experience at this facility. I've applied for a renewal of my 14 year old son's passport. The young lady who tried to help me stated that she was in training and had to constantly go and ask others that were just having a coffee break. After paying the expedited fee, I've been notified that my son's passport application was not received by the National Passport Center until a month after I applied at this office. I have applied for mine on the same day and received it before the 4-6 weeks timeframe at that time. With all of this, it's been 9 weeks since we applied for my son's passport and we have not received yet. We were not able to travel on the date we had originally booked our trip for and lost $10,000 for our family vacation (Out of 5 family members, the only one who did not receive his passport was my son). I will not apply for any passport renewals at this location ever. The Passport Supervisor Liliana Otalvaro did not help at all and made up stories about receiving calls from other agencies I contacted to get help from but couldn't remember names or details on the calls she apparently received about my case....

Seems these days, there are so many negative experiences, it's a joy to share something so very positive.

I had to appear to recertify my Notary Public Commission and from the moment I pulled into the parking lot, I knew it was going to be a good day. The two police officers directing cars where to park greeted me with huge beautiful smiles and good humor. Whoa. Already this process was feeling pretty good.

The metal detector guards similarly said a hearty good morning and directed me to the Notary Department. And there I met sunshine in a cubicle: Ms. Susan Tassy. This civil servant is the one you want greeting the public, anytime, but especially early in the morning. She was conversant, warm, charming and informative, walking me through my re-cert quickly and efficiently.

Look. We all have need to show up at the County Clerk's office for one thing or another, and yes, there are days when even a wait of 5 minutes feels like slow death. But to bask in the crisp efficiency and good humor of those serving you -- it makes all the difference in the world.

Excellent Service at Bergen County Clerk's Office! I had a fantastic experience at the Bergen County Clerk's Office today. From the moment I walked in, Sue greeted me with a smile and was incredibly helpful with my documents. She was very friendly and made sure everything was in order before passing me along. Elena then assisted me, and she was also very knowledgeable and helpful. I really appreciated their efficiency and positive attitudes.
