I have a huge issue with them not giving our cat an injectable anti biotic after his tooth extraction and instead making me purchase it and have to give it to my cat orally which I was unable to do adequately, and thus my cat developed an infection that not only caused him a great deal of unnecessary pain and suffering, but also cost us a great deal of extra money to take him back, have them give him the injection of antibiotic which they should have just done in the first place, and have to pay for more pain medication that at that point I couldn't afford. I expressed my dissatisfaction over the antibiotics to the girl at the reception desk . She did not argue or put up any defense . I would also like to add, they charged me over almost 900 dollars for a few shots and tests he needed. The dental work he received was not part of this cost either for the most part, that couldn't go on care credit. My real point is I guess, is that it's not just VCA, I could take him down to Coast, or any other south bay clinic and it would be the same thing. They say they care so much and love your pets etc, and please adopt pets and rescue pets etc, but yet they make the cost of caring for them out of a lot of people's reach. You at least have to have a bank account they can hit every month through care credit (which is no interest to be fair and that's good) for what they're grossly overcharging you for, or no deal. Perhaps they make exceptions,( I don't know what the qualification would be for an exception ) but the whole thing really is getting out of hand, just like our own medical care system. I know there is pet insurance available, but it also is very very costly , there are deductibles and it's hard to afford for average people taking care of families as well as pets. I would just like to say that the antibiotic thing was inexcusable and on vca Hermosa itself, but the skyrocketing costs for pet care, is simply not consistent with the sentiments contained in the mission statements of these places, and should be carefully looked at...
Read moreSTAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL AND DR MCCOY! I can't explain how big of the disappointment and anxiety this hospital and Dr McCoy caused us. Currently I'm sitting at the emergency room in a different hospital because of what VCA Coast Animal and Dr McCoy put us through. My boy started having nasal discharge and excessive sneezing on mid May. The first vet we saw thought it was a bacterial infection so he prescribed antibiotics which didn't work so went back to hospital, this time Dr McCoy assigned to us. She thought he was having allergies so just prescribed him an over the counter allergy medicine but also ran his blood/urine works and X-rays. Also scheduled us for a teeth cleaning. For all those procedures, I signed up for the wellness care club plan. Between signing up to their care plan and scheduled teeth cleaning, we saw Dr McCoy two more times. First one she prescribed another round of antibiotics and the second and last visit (7/22/22) after the nasal discharge turned into bloody mucus, she said she is suspecting a tumor and when he goes under anesthesia(7/26/22), she will scope his nose to send to biopsy. And on 7/25 just 12 hours before his scheduled procedure, Dr McCoy called and canceled it saying that she is not feeling comfortable because of any possible complications may occur during anesthesia. She and her hospital dropped us just like that without even getting us an emergency appointment from a specialist. If they told us weeks ago, my golden would be seeing a specialist already. Not only they canceled the procedure and basically let us know that we are not their concern anymore, they also refused to refund the amount that I already paid for the care club. I am filing an official complaint with the Board against Dr McCoy and VCA Coast Animal and I will take every single...
Read moreTo owner - there was no mix up of location. I pay my bills with attention to detail. 2025 still 1 star establishment, and yes I've gone back to ask questions you guys didn't change anything, it probably has gotten worse. Personally I'm leaving Los Angeles, from 2010 to 2025 quality and customer service have tanked and they do not show signs of returning in any meaningful manner. I bid you well future angelinos, do your research, you deserve far better. ❤️

Updated from 5 to 1 Star. Pet owners please do your due diligence, Ownership changed at some point and they trickled quality right out the door. They couldn't determine if a dog was spayed, literally did not notice she was on her period. (She was actively bleeding) Tried to ring me into a surgery and invoice upwards of 15k. Was handled less than 30min away for 94% less money. Dog is healthy 2 years post. They are either liars or ignorant or both. Pathetic.
2022 Original Review -- A+ - courtesy meets common sense human decency and affordability under one roof. My favorite vet West of literally Pasadena.
Was able to see me during the thick of COVID other locations gave me appointments 60 days out. VCA is always able to see my new dogs in a few days.
Thanks from me...
