2025 update. Yep I did it again. Went with the best dive shop in the biz and on the island of Oahu. Couldn’t be more convenient. At the back of the Ilikai. The whole crew is just great. I didn’t take enough Dramamine and had a little sea sickness drama. Totally my fault. A little bit used to do me on the Dramamine but I guess I need more. The crew was helpful and we still played around with it. I just love these guys.
We dove the Sea Tiger ship wreck… I swear it never gets old. Lots and lots of turtles. Eels and all kinds of beautiful fish. My dive buddy was great. He’s a DMC Divemaster Candidate. He’s gonna be a great Divemaster!! I’m working on my eLearning now. So IF you want a great scuba diving experience, go with Aloha Scuba Diving Company, you will not be sorry! I never am. I’ll be back too! Hopefully I’ll be a Divemaster then. I’d sure rather do the water trending portion in the ocean! Saltwater makes you float easier.
Aloha Scuba Diving Company, LLC Review July 2023
I can’t say enough to express the feelings of being safe, ecstatic with joy and feeling the Aloha with this company. From the owner, to the dive instructor Derek, our captain Savannah, and the dive masters, that were with me on the boat and dives.
Our captain was so cool! She really impressed me. She herself was a divemaster and really knew her job! Great captain and showed all of us that she loves her job.
I don’t know how to put it other way than saying she was like a momma taking care of her crew and us divers!
Ok on to instructor Derrick…. I’m totally at awe about this man! He has restored my faith in humanity. How in the world can a person show the pure aloha (love) and passion for his trade and do it every day and do it extremely perfect is beyond me. I own a tree service company and I’m so burned out it’s pathetic. He’s great and I trust Derrick.
Justin is great too. Lol. He owns this company and runs a tight ship. I trust that whoever Justin has as DiveMasters or any part of the crew is and will be great. I’ll dive with this group next time.
I had held in my joy for two days, and three dives. The last dive of my Wreck Diver Specialty I let it all out. I was so excited to have completed it without a problem and to see Diamond Head watching over us when I surfaced was the cherry on top!
Thank you Aloha Scuba Diving Company, LLC for more memories to carry me through to the next time. I’ll be blowing bubbles in our rock quarries here in the Dallas Fort Worth area until next time we dive together.

We dove today July 16, 2021. The am dive time. It was GREAT or even better. The safety was out of this world. Never have I ever been this confident in a captain or his crew. Even the New York diver that lent me a hand to the rope. I move slow. I’ve heard to “slow down” all my life and from my instructors back at the mud hole we dive in Terrell, Texas. I’m from Garland. Oh man we saw coral, eel, turtles and all kinds of fish. No shark which was more scary to me than seeing some. We need shark. DAN should be proud of this shop! My 59th birthday was the 13th. The plan now is to go with this group from here on out. Just down the stairs from our time share (do not get one) at the Ilikai. It was my 4th dive to the Sea Tiger Wreck and I’m still at awe of it. I see something different each time. We also went to Mid Pipe. I trust these guys. Ya’ll need to dive here with Aloha Dive Company. Please remember to tip your...
Read moreDISAPPOINTED. My experience dealing with the owner, Kevin (Kevin Shilling?), was the worst part of my otherwise wonderful time on Oahu. I wish this on nobody.
My wife was scheduled for AOW on a Sunday and the following Tuesday, and I was scheduled to dive with my wife and her instructor on only that Sunday (had to work Tuesday).
At 2:37PM on Saturday, an Aloha employee called me to try to reschedule the Tuesday portion of AOW, because not enough people were signed up for that day. He stated that Monday or Wednesday were available. Neither day worked for us; we had other plans Monday and my wife was flying Thursday at 7AM, so that wouldn't leave us with 24 hours of no-fly (just FYI: the shop knew about her flight time, and they were ok with us diving Wednesday).
At that point, I told the employee on the phone that I would search for other dive shops who could support our schedule. I asked if we would receive a full refund if we canceled all of our dives, and the employee stated that the only portion that would not be refunded was my wife's AOW eLearning.
Luckily, I found a top notch shop that could accommodate our schedule. The full experience with this shop was superb, unlike Kevin's outfit. They didn't even charge me until after my wife completed her AOW. Night and day better for me than Kevin's ways.
At 4:23PM on Saturday, I called Aloha Scuba, and told the same employee that I would be canceling all of our dives. He stated that he completely understood and that he would start the refund shortly.
At 8:20PM on Saturday, Aloha Scuba emailed me (I think it K was Kevin, but he didn't state his name or leave a signature, "sent from my iPhone" so not professional) stating that he would like to offer my alternative date options, but that he would not refund me since I had canceled less than 48 hours prior to the dive. He offered a "rain check."
At 8:47PM, I wrote back that I did not accept the emailed proposal, because that is not what I had discussed and agreed to with his employee, and I reminded Kevin (I think it was Kevin) that his company had canceled my Tuesday dive that I had booked with them. They were the ones who couldn't keep their commitments.
At that point, I was exhausted (five hour time difference from home) and went to sleep.
At 9:41PM, less than 12 hours before our dive and when I was asleep, Aloha sent another email. This time, they offered shore dives for Tuesday, which would have worked for my wife and I; however, we had already booked with another dive shop.
In summary, Kevin emailed me that he would NOT refund my Sunday dive, and he offered a credit. The fact that he did not see my Sunday and Tuesday dives (which he couldn't support) as a package deal is very disappointing. Part of me wanted to sue him, but it would take too much time.
Also, Kevin would not speak to me over the phone about cancelations.
I will be giving away my diving credit, because I can't stomach the thought of dirtying something I love with a company like Kevin's.
Another bummer: this shop does not offer nitrox, unless it is for your...

I dove with these guys in July 2021. Had a GREAT experience! The captain went over DAN safety rules more thoroughly than any dive company I’ve ever dove with. Fun,...
