I feel like I keep being let down by the church in general. I was looking for a church home, newly attending and really liked Ecclesia until Sunday. I even donated thousands of dollars to their ministry already.
I am very very sad that a Christian church did not celebrate and praise God for the victory for life of the most vulnerable people in the overturn of Roe v. Wade. I and many Christians have been praying for this day for decades. Instead the message from the pulpit was a solemn, politically-correct message that "this was a complicated week" and "we know some here are not happy with the way things went". The pastor's face was sad. I later asked him if he and the other pastors even believe in the sanctity of life. He said they do; however they decided to give this watered down, lukewarm statement today in an effort to be sensitive to different views. There was no joy in this HUGE victory for God and His precious children. They stole my joy. And probably many others' joy. No wonder people are so confused when even within the church walls there is timidity in celebrating and protecting life. It is stunning actually.
I was very open with the pastor. As a young atheistic, naive college woman I myself had an abortion, so I know firsthand the damage that abortion does to women in their soul. Also as a physician, I am scientifically certain that life begins with conception. My life would look completely different if I had had that baby. I may not be a surgeon, or even a doctor, but still I deeply regret that decision to kill my unborn child. It is guilt and shame that never goes away. Even 30 years later. Abortion is a travesty for the child AND the woman.
After that depressing statement about the events of the week, the sermon we were given was an exhortation to help the poor and vulnerable, with which I agree wholeheartedly. However if you cannot stand solidly for the protection of the unborn, how can you then stand for the poor? Who is poorer than an unborn child?
The church is a place where we CAN have different views on things and come together in Christ. I absolutely agree with that. However if the leadership cannot stand up for life, celebrate this victory and this huge answered prayer, in an effort to be sensitive and politically correct, and affirm what is right and true at this landmark moment in history even when it is very complicated and difficult, then they have become lukewarm, and will confuse people and risk...
Read moreEcclesia has been my church home since 2012 and has greatly influenced my walk with Christ. If you are looking to find Jesus in everyday life and people that reflect his image, this is the place to go! The community is full of love and acceptance. All are welcomed to the table, just as Jesus himself would have it!
I believe the biggest misconception people have with church is that you have to clean up your life before you can come through the doors. What a lie! This church is proud to admit we are all broken and invite you in! You are worthy of God’s love and coming to a place to honor/ worship/ and adore Him!
A great way to get connected to the church is to start volunteering. I began assisting with the infants and toddlers child care during the services. Last year I attended The Holy Land trip to Israel with Pastor Chris Seay. It was an experience that changed my life! The friendships formed through a woman’s bible study through this community have become some of the strongest relationships I’ve ever made. My life has overflowed with blessings because of Ecclesia.
I hope God touches your life by the presence of this...
Read moreI originally started going here because a girl invited me and I thought she was cute (probably not the best reason to go to Church).
A few years ago, I went through a really difficult spot in my life and was contemplating suicide. I had severe depression and anxiety. The people at this church (especially the pastors and staff) were there for me. They didn't act like they knew everything, but were there to listen and give support. If they weren't there I don't think I'd be here today. Not only am I happier than I can remember, but I'm able to use my experience to help others who are struggling. I was able to finish my master's degree and am almost done with a PhD. They have lots of great volunteering opportunities and through going here I have learned to be more compassionate, caring, and a...
