Have you ever felt betrayed by an organization with a good reputation. This is what this experience has been for me. I felt like I was in a good place in my life to volunteer my time to my community, and I love the idea of mentorship. I paid the fees and jump through the hoops to join them, and I was matched with an apathetic teenager who doesn't need a mentor because she has a kind and loving family. But, the school she is enrolled in requires every kid there to be part of BBBS, so most of the kids are like that. I brought up my concerns several times to the organization but was mostly blown off. I offered to match with a second kid that really may need mentoring and still keep this one, but then I was told that all the kids are like that because of this school situation. I'm heartbroken that I can't help a kid in need, and while I love teenagers, this program put both me and this kid in an awkward situation. I wasn't offered a different program or anything. I voiced my concerns for the fifth and final time and asked to be unmatched because of it. They wrote a polite email unmatching me but still never addressed the situation. So, writing this review is the only chance I have to warn other people, because they are obviously not going to address it. I've wasted my time, money and emotions. If you know of a different mentorship program with a different organization please...
