5yrs ago today I did the smartest thing that I have ever done by proposing to my beautiful wife Patty S Eaker at IRT. What a lot of people don’t know is that I planned this for months. I asked for her dad and mom’s approval for me to propose to Patty. I emailed IRT a total of 13 times (13 is our lucky number) to see where I could propose to Patty at and they let me know anywhere except on the stage for safety reasons. Talked to a lady there and told her my plans of asking Patty to marry me in front of their Christmas tree and asked if she would use my phone to take pictures for me. The lady was thrilled to do so. I wanted this to be done around the Christmas holiday because Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. IRT went out of their way to print me off special tickets showing us getting engaged that night. I had a special book custom made for Patty. I had every detail planned out. I was extremely nervous. I was shaking and had tears in my eyes as I got got down to one knee and asked Patty to marry me. Luckily for me she said yes. She was in shock and kept asking the girl taking our pictures if this was real. It was one of the happiest days of my life and that’s all thanks to IRT....
Read moreWe had an absolutely lovely experience when our family recently attended the IRT production of A Christmas Carol. Upon entry we were greeted warmly. It didn't feel like so many other venues where one feels like herded cattle as you are shuffled along.
The theater lobby is beautiful and well spaced enough that everyone could find other members of their parties, grab a cocktail, or snap a few pictures.
The theater itself was both spacious yet intimate. The stage is positioned and convexed in such a way that there really isn't a bad seat in the house.
The actors were masterful and emotional. Even the youngest cast member was absolutely flawless despite playing several characters and having limited experience.
After the show was over, several of the actors did a wonderfully warm and intimate Q and A with any audience members that wished to stay and ask questions. They all seemed so very humble and gracious and truly seemed to love what they did, which clearly showed in their performance.
The IRT was an incredible experience and well worth a day trip for anyone who wants to enjoy a small venue populated by incredible talent. We will be back as soon...
Read moreWhen we arrived during the crux of our escapade I was unsuspecting of what I was about to experience, we enter and are immediately met with the tacky nature of the architecture which seemed to mimic that of an elegant nature but was ultimately unable to quite grasp it. The theatre room in which we situated ourselves like sardines awaiting our fate, was quite a lot smaller than I expected, and the view we had on the stage was unsatisfying due to the angle we were positioned and the head that was so fixated in my field of vision. The set of "The Reclamation of Madison Hemmings" was masterfully crafted with good lighting and wonderful set pieces, the two actors were exquisite and kept me interested. Although the end of the first act was weak in my opionon and it put me to sleep, however the second act was engaging through to the end and wrapped up nicely. I am not one for play watching and I went into this play expecting to be uninterested but was pleasantly surprised with the final result. Excellent job...
