My wife and I stayed on Sept. 6th. We were headed to the city from Chicago for a concert that evening at White River, so I made a reservation that morning with Kati. After making the reservation, I checked my bank account and saw two pending charges from the hotel, one for approximately $475, which was the roughly the cost for my room with taxes/fees, and another for more than $700! When I called Kati back, she insisted that it was an inexplicable hold that was placed by my bank, and that it would likely be resolved by Monday. My bank informed me that LeMeridien initiated the charge. In fact, the pending status changed to complete on Tuesday, Sept 9th, when LeMeridien completed the transaction and took possession of the funds. In total, more than $1,200 was removed from my bank, and I waited more than a week to have the unauthorized funds returned. Needless to say, this caused some issues with my finances. When we arrived at the hotel, I chose to have the valet park my vehicle for the evening. Upon checking out the following morning, I began our drive back to IL. When I entered the highway, I immediately noticed that the driver's side mirror was bouncing around, as if it wasn't properly secured. The vehicle has auto-folding mirrors, so I pressed the button and as the mirrors began to fold in, the mirror popped back into place and was no longer bouncing around. This made me realize that the mirror must have been struck while in the custody of the valet. When I arrived home that evening, sure enough there was a paint transfer on the driver's side mirror. I called the hotel and reported this to Kati. She assured me that I would be contacted by the hotel's insurer to proceed with a claim. It has been more than two weeks and I still have not heard from them. I will say that Kati was pleasant and welcoming when we arrived, but because the hotel took more than $700 in funds that I didn't authorize and held them for more than a week before returning, as well as damaging my vehicle, I think they should have offered a free stay for the trouble they caused me. They did not, which tells me that they're incompetent when it comes to servicing...
Read moreWe had an almost comical stay at the Le Méridien Indianapolis this past weekend. I should add that previously, when visiting Indy, I have stayed at the Conrad. Familiar with the Le Meridien brand and its 4star rating, I thought I'd switch it up...which was a mistake.||The lobby itself is gorgeous, with the restaurant at the very front. The staff will rave about the restaurant to you but it was nearly empty throughout the entire stay (we opted to eat elsewhere so cannot speak to quality of the food).||Upon arriving and entering our room, like past reviewers have noted, the rooms are quite small. The hotel is updated, which is nice, however, some of the furniture looked a little beat up.||Problem #1 that we encountered: The shower water pressure was inadequate and there was absolutely no hot water in our room. I called the desk to inquire about this issue (because we had dinner plans and I needed to shower...preferably not in a cold shower). She put me on hold for awhile to investigate the situation...then shared that maintenance is working and there will not be any steam or hot water "for several hours." I was confused why she hadn't been in touch with maintenance prior to them turning off the hot water/this would have been nice to know upon arrival. Totally threw off our plans. The receptionist did not offer any solutions/efforts, just a measly apology.||Second, though some of the hotel has been updated, certain aspects are lacking. The TV in our room was very dated, approx half the buttons on the remote didn't work, no casting/mirroring capabilities (it advertises such but it does not work). After our failed discussion about cold water I did not bother to call the desk about this. But I will be reaching out to Le Meridien corporate because, simply put, this hotel did not feel luxurious at all, and I've stayed in Hampton Inns that have better amenities and accommodations.||Additionally, like other reviewers have noted, street noise is loud. Do not recommend Le Meridien Indianapolis. Spend your money at the Conrad if you want actual 4+ star...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I decided to head down to Indianapolis for a short getaway during the weekend as well as to celebrate our anniversary together. Upon reaching the hotel, we were surprised at how new the hotel looked, my girlfriend also really liked the interior design of it. While making the reservation, I informed the hotel that we were there for our anniversary and was extremely surprised when we got to our room and saw that they had given us a complimentary bottle of prosecco as well as some macaroons. As both of us were SPG gold members, we were also upgraded to a corner room.
As with the hotel, the room was very modern and well furnished. The corner room we got gave us a pretty nice view despite only being at the 12th floor. The king bed in the room was also incredibly comfortable.
However, we did encounter some problems which hampered our sleep. The corner room which we were assigned to was right opposite the service door. Throughout the night and morning, service staff would enter past the door and the door would slam shut loudly. Being a pretty light sleeper, I got woken up every time the door slammed shut. My girlfriend also commented on it the next morning. It was disappointing as we both really liked the hotel and the rooms. Hopefully the other rooms would not have the same problem.
On a side note, St Elmo's steakhouse is literally right next to the hotel. We decided to have our anniversary dinner there and had a really great evening.
Pros: Great new hotel with a boutique flair Modern looking rooms Extremely comfortable beds Convenient location Decent pricing
Cons: Room was opposite service door where we heard doors slamming...
