I loved coming here after a long day of working at GenCon every year. Unfortunately this place has really gone down hill in the past year. I was there twice in early August and it was very depressing- the ice cream was mostly gone, the chocolate was bad and the employees were rude. There are hardly any ice cream flavors anymore, the freezer case is half empty. In fact the menu behind the counter advertises sundaes that are made with flavors they don't even have, so you can't order it. The employees are rude and when I did try to order a sundae, the employee grabbed a metal cup and started scooping ice cream in to it. When he grabbed milk I stopped him and said I ordered a sundae, not a shake. He argued with me but his coworker came over and corrected him and said he's new. Okay, that's fine, but even if he is new, shouldn't he know the difference between a sundae and a shake if you are working at an ice cream place? They finally put the scoops of ice cream in a very tall cup, put some hot fudge and whipped cream on top and gave me a very short spoon (shorter than the height of the cup). I asked for a longer spoon or for my sundae to be placed in a shorter cup and the employee brusquely set another cup- the exact same height as the too-tall cup and therefore not help at all- on the counter in front of me. I don't think I'll ever go back and certainly felt unwelcome. The chocolate case is also sad- a lot of the chocolates are old and have turned white, they have chocolate fat bloom from improper storage and age. Even the ice cream didn't taste great, so I can't recommend anyone ever go here, which is a shame as this was my favorite place to indulge after a really tiring day at...
Read moreAfter 3 years of patronizing South Bend Chocolate factory in the circle, im done with it. Do yourself a favor and avoid South Bend Chocolate Factory. Their menu is nothing but a endless sugar, as if that’s what Indianpolis needs more of, it’s unhealthy, their chocolate is stale and old and bland, their company does not know how to hire or train or educate quality employees. They want to sit outside and get paid to smoke cigarettes and play on their phones and get paid to do nothing and they hate their jobs, then they call police and have paying customers and have them removed who sit outside and tell the Truth because they hate the Truth and love their own lazy pride and ignorance. They’re disorganized and they service takes too long. Their ice cream is over priced. Their limited menu is often out of stock and their employees are often uneducated and misinformed and untrained and underpaid. The have no washroom for customers. They don’t offer ice water, even for money. A basic human necessity. Their supervisors and managers are racist bigots who talk about “White people” this and “black people” that. It’s been like this for at least 3 years I’ve been a customer there several times a week. I’m done with South-bend Chocolate Factory. It’s a hell whole. The Circle would better off if it closed and another company took it’s place. Save yourself the trouble and just go to Koko Tea, Potbelly Subs, Rocket Fizz, Chick-fil-A, or any other shop on the circle. South Bend Chocolate Cafe is the worst shop on monument circle. Just get your snack before you...
Read moreFirst time ever visiting and will never return. There was a sign right in front of the register that listed fall drinks and they all came in small, med and large. I wanted a small Pumpkin Spice latte. The cashier asked if I wanted cream in it? I said cream? She said "well, I it doesn't come with anything just the coffee and sauce. Confused I said a latte isn't made with milk??? She said "OH, I thought you meant a coffee. Well, we only have lattes in large, you can get it iced in small." I didn't want to pay $7 for a drink so I asked for the pumpkin drip coffee instead and said yes to cream. So they gave me a SMALL coffee, a cup that they refused to put MY SMALL latte in and worse, it's all milk! And it's barely lukewarm. I don't like to complain but I asked for another coffee with a lot less cream in it to another employee. So both girls now seemed confused. The coffee was definitely at the bottom of the pot bc hardly anything was coming out no matter how many times they pumped and instead of making a fresh pot of coffee, they put the coffee and cream in my cup, poured in into a steam pitcher, steamed it and gave it back to me. So now I had steamed hot milk with barely any coffee which was even whiter than the first cold cup of coffee. I'm so disappointed and confused bc really, how can you mess up drip coffee??? That's like coffee 101 for a COFFEE store. If you like coffee,...
